Ahh Guy, a very refreshing approach...

The value on the mini was after a full rebuild, re-trim and respray so was essentially a new car... They're fetching the figure I had in mind and more in worse condition :y MOTing it and cleaning it to sell would cost a lot anyway, couple of panels welding in, brakes & tyres all round and plenty of elbow grease. If I'm going that far I'll do the full monty TBH :y

The Caravan... We'd never replace it with another bargain like the one we had, considering we were virtually given it! And we do love it, even if we don't get to use it as much as we'd like.

We still haven't made any decisions about it but are definitely swaying in a certain direction... I'm not saying what way until the poll closes though ;)

Look forward to seeing you soon Guy... You going to Newent this year?

Hi Paul. MDTM hates Minis & caravans. He's a clever chap no denying it. But he has a practical scientific approach & does'nt give in to the love & passion of something expensive & pointless...(I do) I've run Minis on the road & low level circuit racing. They are totally unique either way ie there is'nt anything like a Mini. They are also little money pits that rot for Italy (Lancia) & have countless other niggly problems that you spend a fortune on but never get quite get on top of. I think the price you have in mind once done is a tad optimistic. Get it Mot'd, tax it (helps with the sale) & get what you can but keep it basic...spend less & expect less.

Quite the contary....

....what with my Tractor and time spent on the loco.

What I am saying is though that the late Minis are not a patch on the 60's and 70's Coopers and if your going to do one up then its probably better to invest your time into a more worthwhile project.

Remember though that we are not preserving these things, we are simply delaying thier scrap dates  :y

I can't deny the early Minis were way ahead of the later ones character & grin factor wise & i'd love an early Cooper but £10/£15k+???
I might buy one & park it next to my Mk1 Lotus Cortina!! 8-)

A perfect combination and a thumbs up to British motoring history, could I add the Rover P6 to that, this would be my Ideal collection........... :y :y :y

Thanks for the opinions guys... I can now reveal that we've made a decision and, at present, neither are being sold as we just can't bring ourselves to do it ::) ::)

I know! ;D ;D

Was giving it serious thought but the Caravan was just too much of a bargain to let it go (even for the massive profit we would make!) and, being realistic, the mini would need a little work even to sell it so I may as well do the lot... Just need to find a lock up/ garage to stick it in so I can work through the winter ::)

As a bonus, the gravel I want for the drive has worked out considerably cheaper than I was expecting so that did influence the decision a little ::)

Well you know where we are when you need input on other decisions.  Wonder what the next poll will be .  ::)

Hellmas or salad cream.

Branston or ploghmans pickle.

No joking apart, am glad we could'nt help make your mind up, after all, you have the best of both world's now (still) somewhere to get loved up with Mrs LD and some where for some peace and quiet.  Sounds like the perfect world.

Sounds like you are on a winner with both.   :y :y :y

lol why has noone stated the most obvious answer?
park the mini in the back garden, do an hour or two a week on it, park the caravan in the front garden, and use it when you want to, that way you dont have to most of the gardens!!! :y
