Having been on very nearly from its birth, The forum definitely has changed - however I see that as a natural thing. It is definitely less personal but that is to be expected with 6000 members.
It is still a fantastic forum. Without it I would have given up on Omegas years ago.
Maybe and it is only a maybe some changes that could be made could include.
A section for "Over 18's" stuff and who better to moderate than Mr S.
A current affairs section moderated by who else than Mr Z or Ms L Z
An OOF lounge only open to forum members with say 1000 posts and only on approval from a Mod. That might be an area where people use their real names and things might be a bit more personal
This is the only other forum I go on every day. The "other" being a Spanish forum for Expats.
I think users could be more disciplined with headings. Instead of posting in general help "Yikes" they could say "Problems with spark plug leads". I have lost count of the number of times I have opened on my slow connection something only to find it wasn't of interest or appropriate.
I have been trying hard this morning to think of something worthwhile to say on what Daz has, quiet rightly, stated. Since I first joined, then left in a huff, and quickly came back within a week it HAS changed, with all too many names disappearing (Psyconurse, Mike Dundee, Ljay, Dusty, etc, etc) that I certainly loved discussion / sparring with!!
However I am not going to burble on. Rather I will just say Varche has really summarised my feelings, especially on how many members are now on the OOF. I would add the mix has changed due to that, and certainly Daz is right to say so much humour seems to have disappeared. I remember those nights with effection when I couldn't stop giggling!! 8-) 8-) 8-)
