If you paid by Paypal, launch a claim against him. It can be slow to process, but it usually gets you a refund eventually.

Just checked his details, yes online on the 6th.

We dont even have his full name.
His IP addresses just reveal his town, and are not static addresses tied to him.

Should you involve police, this info could be given to them, with the correct request procedure, and could possibly be used to identify him though his provider.

Out of interest, how much are we talking about here?

£140  :-[

He lives in Liverpool he said, even volunteered to meet me half way if I couldn't get upto him. I asked him to courier it instead if he could. Not a problem and gave me a price.
Now this is where I'm too trusting I guess, he told me he didn't have Paypal, gave me his bank details and that was the last I heard.

Not until after did I kick myself!

If no-one "knows" him or can directly contact him, I'll go to the police and report it. I have his bank details and the info you have, so that may help the police track it down. Although I doubt they'll be interested, not the crime of the Century to them.

If anyone does talk to him, PLEASE ask him to send the S/S exhaust or return my money, life's hard enough as it is!

Thanks all.  :(

slightly naughty I guess to reveal this, but according to his IP address, he has given you the correct town.

Your bank details are probably better than any IP address.
(just google the sort code - will show you his bank / actual branch depending on bank.

The meeting options does sound like the intention was there to do a deal, not just get money for a non existant item.

With a bit of luck he is just being lazy and hasnt packaged / sorted a courier.

I always wonder when these go wrong if the person at the other end is ill or dead!

Indeed it might happen....`surely, not in this case: "online on the 6th.".....Anyway, what`s so difficult in replying to the buyer`s e-mail: simply with "I`m lazy/ill/busy/dead etc.? ::)

Thats why at the time I was happy to send the funds, because I felt at the time it was "safe".
Never thought to look up his bank details on line, will do that shortly.

Thanks for the pointers!  :y

I would agree with that  as it provides a complicating feature where any criminal examination of this issue is concerned.

A PayPal complaint might be the best way forward as they will have his full details and can act conclusively should they uphold it – getting these details from any bank account information you may hold will be difficult I would imagine without some form of legal application which, as we all know, costs money and still leaves you with the requirement to chase the debt.

Im not saying you have been ripped off, and im not saying you havent....

but this is PRECISELY why we dont allow public trading with newbies with next to no post count  :-X

its posts like this that really piss me off, i have a low post count, but i have already bought items from peeps here a,for cash and i went to collect from elite pete, who wasn't at home but kindly left the item in his back garden for me, and b, RobG who i bought 2x items from, payment sent via paypal, and he posted very quickly after payment received, but i am restricted to NOT being able to post items i may have for sale, and if i do i have to post in the test area, to which i get no post count.

it actually puts me off advertising anything here due to this fact.  but i  wouldn't dream off 'ripping' anyone off by not sending an item, at the end of the day we are all trying to help each other out.

my rant over lol

I see your point and I'm sure that you are as good as your word. However the unfortunate situation is that with over 10,000 members statistics will bare out that there will be a few bad apples that would not follow the spirit of OOF and may just join to take advantage of other members to take the opportunity to have them off.

TBH, the situation here between the OP and seller does highlight why the post count limit is set as it is. There are, unfortunately, some people less honest than yourself and others ;) ::) This site is predominantly about keeping Omegas on the road and general chit-chat, there are plenty of other sites you can use to sell things ;)

Unfortunately, when people do have issues with payments/goods when buying through here it does reflect on the forum and that is just unfair... The admins work very hard and give up a lot of money to keep this site free running for us all :y :y If you desperately want to sell stuff, there's always the paid auction sites ;) :y

Oh, and 250 posts is actually very low... It doesn't take that long to get there if you join in with the discussions ;) ;) ;)

lol 250 might sound low to you, but if you check how long i've been a member and i still only have 28 posts, its riduclously high. i usually don't have time to read/reply to many threads. only ones like this that jump out at me.
