To day i decided to do something about the plastic surround that goes around the gear lever...it was looking awful with the paint all chipped..so i took it off and rubbed it down with 1200 wet and dry with water and washing up liquid..once the crap rubber type paint was gone i then applied t.cut and polished it up...it came up great and now fitted back in place looks far better  nice and clean and shiney... :y :D

On friday I gave it a good wash and brush up, and yesterday it repaid me by sailing straight through the MOT.  Happy days!!  :y

Bugger all, too hot and nice a day to be buggering about with cars. ESP as I've had a banging head ache since 5am. :(

Changed shocks and springs on the Westfield. Did a DIY wheel alignment and then for the "test drive". Spot on after a little tweak of the shock rates. Discovered a large stretch of the A32 was closed and thus available as a test track. :-X

Changed the cabin air filter (very grey), air filter (black!) and oil (blacker!) on the M3 on Saturday.. damn near died of heat stroke in the hot box garage doing it, too.

It promptly threw a CEL by way of thanks ;D Ungrateful Bavarian ...

Done front disc and pads and a part fluid flush a couple of weeks ago. Replaced rear discs and pads yesterday and finished off the flush. Had bought a set of handbrake shoes (Bosch branded) in case the ones fitted came to bits on disc removal but discs came off without a problem once adjuster was wound back so the original GM ones live on.

Should have adjusted the handbrake as per the guide but rain was threatening so will leave that for another day. Handbrake takes 3 clicks and is firmly on so might take a while before I do it 'properly'.....   :-[  :)

Today  i replaced both centre sections and the rear box of  the exhaust. The back box was coughing its innards out  and  although the centre sections were okay, they  are showing signs of rust and looked like the would go soon.  Lets see if the mpg changes now the back box isnt blowing all its fibreglass out.  No longer looks like the exhaust has  a pony tail.

Forgot what I did on Sunday .. and by "I" I mean "I and four friends".

Took the M3 up to a friends place who has allll the detailing stuff and;

Washed it
Claybarred it throughout
Machine polish with a medium cutting compound to get the scratches & swirls out
Machine polish with a fine compound to restore the shine
Applied sealer
Applied wax (a tiny tiny 1.5" diameter pot of wax worth >£100!)
Cleaned the interior

Now it's shiny shiny shiny!

You wouldn't believe how much I ache (and how sunburnt I am!) to achieve that shine, though ;D
