Aaeye. Fluids and pressures checked. Found the coolant a bit low after the steering box change but all is well.

Although I'm not so pleased with my New front sc3's. They are the Audi variant, and not the Mercedes ones I had before. Turn in is better but it's not as stable as before.  :'(

Will try fiddling with pressures and re set the steering box damper, but I'm not hopefully. :(

taxed 2.2 LPG, its legal again  :D

I parked my 2.2 the same same the Elite passed its MOT,   forgot the 2.2 isnt taxed.  ::)

I noticed the difference between my SP9000 and SP9090 (Nissan? variant of SP9000), and the SP9090 had better traction.

I noticed the difference between my SP9000 and SP9090 (Nissan? variant of SP9000), and the SP9090 had better traction.
Well, it just proves the point, that Reviews are heavily stacked in the tyre makers favour. As one sc3, or whatever tyre, is not the same as another sc3, in order to match the tyre to the car. And that it does make a difference what car the tyre is fitted to.

In the sc3 range, iirc, there are 5 types of Manufacture to choose from in my particular size.

Decided to change the steering idler as I was getting fed up of the tramlining and the car deciding where it wanted to go, balljoint was a bitch to seperate and the bush from the steering idler had actually seperated from it, car feels so much better to drive now.

If you mean the screw & lock nut on top of the steering box I believe it is the 'sector arm height adjustment screw'.

The sector arm has a roller on the end which engages with the worm on the steering input shaft. The centre of the roller is slightly higher than the centre of the input shaft which means that if the arm is raised slightly (by screwing the screw out) it introduces free play between the worm and roller. Screwing it in will reduce the free play.

The worm is thinner in the middle than it is at the ends because the roller moves in an arc on the sector arm. The worm is cut so that it is quite precise in the middle (straight ahead) but has free play at either end of its travel.

The sector arm adustment screw has to be set so that there is a tiny amount of free play at the tight spot (which will hopefully be straight ahead). If it is overtightened then the force between the roller and worm will be immense. (potentially bending the worm or sector arm or crushing the bearing in the roller).

I haven't had an Omega steering box apart, my experience has been with a Range Rover power steering box (which didn't have any speed sensitive gubbins).

I can't see any other adjustment on the box on my Omega so I have to assume that there isn't a built in damper. (on my Range Rover the steering damper is a hydraulic damper acting on the drag link)

Fitted the mv6 lip spoiler to my miggy today,i used sikaflex black stuff.......who ever it was on this forum that suggested to put masking tape around the profile of the spoiler onto the boot lid first is a life saver  as i had more sikaflex on me than i had expected..and it stopped it going on to the paint work..spoiler finishes the car off and well chuffed with the result....so well done and cheers    great ideas and help on here...thanks  :y

Just spent the last 20 mins freeing off the nearside handbrake :(

Decided to seize itself at 10 pm on a saturday night, I ask you ::)

Job for tomorrow will be to strip it down and try to establish why it seized up :-\ hopefully the wheel bearing is ok, it did get a bit warm ::)

removed the powersounder and had the aircon leak tested, regassed and the nice man found a small leak on the hp side valve fitted a new one, then regassed it,nice and frezzzeee cold now,so be getting a headache now when i have it on. :y

Finished fitting new alternator - that top bolt is a barsteward to fit!!  Spent ¾ hour trying to get it in yesterday, gave up as I felt my time was better spent drinking beer!!
Today, 2 minutes and bolt was in!!  Tip - I cut a slot in the end of the bolt (2 blades in the hacksaw) to enable me to hold bolt with a screwdriver whilst tightening nut (saves trying to get an 11mm ring spanner on a bolt head you can't see and can't easily reach)

Put all the other bits back and lo and behold battery light off :y :y  - result.

Over the past few days, the Useless Student and I have eaten curry

Removed and refitted and removed the exhaust on his 3.2 Elite. Currently awaiting a replacement part.
Replaced his droplinks on his 3.2 Elite.
Replaced a pesky lamda sensor, although can't test until exhaust is back on.
Refurbed the wishbones on TBE, a job I put in the 'bastard job' category - a 15t press wouldn't touch it.
Replaced the front discs on TBE.
Removed the (very tired) TC pads on TBE, slapping on OE replacements.
Replaced a crank sensor on a Corsa-C, noting what a pig it is to do when the donor has no wheels on, and is in a muddy field.
Replaced the contacter unit in the steering wheel on a Corsa-C.
Regassed the Silver Bullet.
Changed rear springs on a member's car.
Changed steering wheel on a member's car.
Returned to reset airbag light on said member's car after some idiot didn't plug it in properly.
Swapped the wheels front to back on the Silver Bullet, so Gixer can't take the piss about it being a clown car.
Got his 2.2 going again (buggered if I can remember what needed doing though), and MOT'd and taxed.
Replaced rear window mech in a member's car.
Fixed an NCDC on a member's car.
Eaten curry, and both suffered each other's aftermath, the filthy, dirty student ;D

All in all, a rather pleasant few days of tweaking and arsing about. Personally, I've really enjoyed it :)
