Nothing a quick burn out won't cure cem. ;)

I guess winter storage doesn't help?
That's how I used to cure my Michelins ;D. But they didn't last too long ;D

Winter storage has obviously increased the life timewise, and I suspect has had an impact on the tyre surface.

Bike tyres, especially softer compounds such as Pirelli super corsers sc1,2,3, will turn blue after first use, if left a month or so. It can be scrubbed off by riding on them again, but the full performance never quite recovers.

The release agent on new tyres also goes some way to protecting the rubber from uv as I'm sure most here know. Once that's gone it seems the compound dictates the rate of degradation. Some worse than others it seems.

I'm wont do burn outs unless the tires are completely dead or free ;D

reason is that high heat may "cure" even the deepest levels :-\

I didnt witness any negative side effect for winter storage..  but I kept them in a cold (as possible) dark area..

Replaced the rear shock absorbers with a pair of shiny new Monroe Originals, bought them as bankrupt stock for £20 the pair. Very noticeable improvement in the handling now. And thanks to the guide on this site, removing the rusted in lower bushes was a dawdle.  :)

Went to scrappy, after 3 items, 2 fairly specific to certain cars/engines and the last being a CCR600 or similar as fitted to many Vauxhalls in the mid/late 1990s.

Came away empty handed. Very little there, and not one single Omega.

Had a MY2000 X25XE estate in my garage fo rthe weekend, owner said it's losing brake fluid. And when I drove it home I realized one ore more rear wheel bearings needed replacement. 277000 km on the clock, seemed that drivers side was changed in the past, passenger side was rusted solid. Left a puller in tension over night, gave it some heat with electric blow gun a few times and got it out (don't have a welder...). Both bearings were bad, play at both. Replaced and all is well again.

Brake fluid was leaking from the rear where the pipes go under the heat shields. Pulled one and it broke so it was about time to replace. Bought 10 meters of line, four connectors, two hoses and two pipes, short ones for the wheels were readily available. Replaced whole length from ABS unit to rear wheels, not looking the most professional pipe work, I could not use the bender in tightest bends and not at all on the engine bay but most important is that now it is safe to drive again.

Wonder why GM/Bosch has made three ABS unit connections with M10 connector and ONE, rear left IIRC, is M12?!?! I was more than surprised, found it out when I had completed last pipe...

I guess too old now. Plus scrappage scheme a couple of years or more back boosted numbers being scrapped.

Plenty of 10yr old Focus' and 15yr old Audis with no real damage. A few Vectra-Cs and B's, Astra F's and Tigras. Nought else with a Vauxhall badge.
