Well it's done now, should get my monies worth of gas on the refill.

But as before I get feeling it won't hold pressure
Well, they empty it all out anyway ;)

It will have to be a catastrophic leak for it to be detected on the vac test.  Have you got dye anywhere (presumably it had dye put in last time?). As if you have a tone of dye on the condenser, or the pipe up the chassis leg, etc, then you know its a waste of time regassing it without fixing that.

It's always had bit of dye around the compressor, but the old estate had that as well. Aircon never failed on that.

I think I have the O rings for the compressor somewhere and your welcome to them if you want Tunnie.  :)

Cheers  :y :y

I'm taking it for a regas at lunch time tomorrow, so shall see what's what  :)

Fitted the £20 bluetooth "Aux" adapter to the BMW last night, turned out surprisingly easy despite the fact that I had to do it twice - first time I did it I pushed the stereo back in to find that the leads were too short for the -ve lead to still reach the chassis point  :-[ ;D Second time was a charm.

Works well.. music via the aux adapter (volume level is maybe a little low but liveable as long as you remember to turn it down a notch before going back to the radio!) and phone calls via the pre-existing BMW bluetooth phone interface (which is too old to support audio streaming).

Piled the boot up with a load of overpriced laptops.

Temporarily refitted old abs ecu... having intermittent gearbox control is better than having none ::)

Hmmm back to the drawing board then, its worse with the replacement is it .?

Different codes, suggesting that the new ecu is from a V8, config and steering angle calibration (rack vs box) no wheel sensor faults and cruise works, so happy that a reconfig should sort the abs/dsc lights

Gear box now permanently in limp mode, but showing two consistent codes... output speed and battery pos, suggesting two issues rather than just the abs ecu :-\

I only found one plug to the gear box and this has been thoroughly cleaned and dried. Some suggestion of battery/alternator (voltage) issues, so checking this will be next, although battery new in November.

Car should have been gone weeks ago, so a bit miffed at having to deal with it :-X

Voltage 13.4 at idle, drops to 12 with a load applied and gradually creeps back to 13.2 with some revs...

Looks like the alternator is getting lazy, so if I am stuck with it any longer, then it will be at least a new regulator and the Abs ecu reconfig...

Reg was an easy (and cheap) fix on the 645 - if you ignore the three days it took to liberate the alternator to get at the regulator ;D a problem you're unlikely to have on yours :y
