Im saving washing mine until Im working dayshift on Boxing day. Will get the Karcher out at work and get all the salt and shit off the underneath, then give the paintwork a good wash.
Just been driving home in the dark, from Christmas shopping with swmbo. The headlights are appalling (and my eyes arent getting any younger.
I must teat it to a headlight lens polish and a pair of new bulbs soon. I think the bulbs are originals.
Which ones to buy though. Istr its a bit of a minefield.   ::)
Branded D2S, such as OSRAM etc, aiming for about 4300k

Actually got around to finishing that spare wheel mount at last ;D

Had to redesign the middle bit to give it a larger diameter, and round off the edges as they dug in your fingers a bit when screwing it up.  Found a bit of thick felt to stick on top as well.

The chinese clones, I found, look bright, but lack illumination after a few months, if that makes sense.

Hence now I stick to the big brands (esp as on the XJ, changing the bulbs is a bumper off job)

Same as my Vectra when doing the offside bulb. Stupid idea.  ::)  Though the guy i bought it from just pulled the air filter box off its rubber mounts  and changed it ok.

And Astra's bumper off to get to one headlamp bolt as you have to remove headlamp unit to change bulb. Yesterday fitted starter to mums Seat, have lovely bruised ribs from lying on the engine but at least fitting a new ign coil/module made it run.
EGR valve was sticking on my Yeti due to it getting chugged around behind idiots doing 35mph, managed to rag 7 bells out of it and it was fine after.

Don’t know where they’re made, but they’ve been in for over a year and still good so far💥

In my experience the cheap HID's tend to not strike every time when they are a month or so old so after dabbling with them I've just stuck with Phillips 4800K In the Omega's i've owned / still own.

BMW and Volvo (Both HID) seem fine, not sure if either have been replaced by previous owners or not.

And Astra's bumper off to get to one headlamp bolt as you have to remove headlamp unit to change bulb………….

They tell you that you have to remove the bumper to remove the headlight for a bulb change on a Corsa D model shape as well, but I’ve changed them without removing the headlight. On the offside you can pull the air box out of the way to gain easy access and on the nearside you can remove the fuse box lid, unclip the fuse box and shift it slightly rearward. Then, if you’ve got skinny hands like mine, you have just enough space to change the LH bulbs.  :y
I’m not familiar with Astra’s so the gap may be tighter.

Towed the neighbours Corsa D 1.0 back from a rip off RAC approved outfit.

They charged 78 quid and diagnosed timing chain had snapped.

Pulled the rocker cover and the chain is fine, however a lifter has failed, rocker has punched a hole in the cylinder head, fragments have jammed the exhaust cam, and the chain sprocket bolt has sheered.

There is no oil on the dipstick at all
