After an eighteen month hiatus due to unforseen circumstances I got started on the manual conversion on my E24 .
Strip down was very easy and interior is now out ,exhaust ,prop,  heatshields , linkages, sensors and cooler pipes all out .
Two bellhousing bolts ,torque converter and the old three speed box will be ready to drop .
The Getrag going in has a split bellhousing case so will be much easier to fit .

I agree. That looks like it will be a very enjoyable / rewarding project Don.

All Ive done today is wash the little Shitroen and check the fluids. I am at work though.

Got a P0220 code on the V70 so got to investigate which part is playing silly buggers.

Yep, it's not often I like a BMW, but those, the 2002 and the old CSL are absolutely lovely.

Yes, but rust and head gasket issues killed most of them over 30 years ago.

A mate of mine has a couple of 2002s and it's amazing how much better designed and built they are than the BL / Ford sh!te of the 1970s, though. I'm sure that came at a cost back then.

Although 70s BMWs rusted at least as well as Fords.

Very true.  Sometimes fill mine so much that i can't move the bugger when i have to put it out.  That reminds me, i have to put them out tonight.

That's what I've been doing, although it was several smaller ones. I've got probably one more binful to deal with and then I've got to dig the whole garden which I'm not looking forward to. This was supposed to happen last year, as there have been various health issues that have prevented them doing much garden work for the last two years. And I hate gardening. Then I've got the sill ends to do on Richard's R100 when I can find some motivation.


As for wheelie bins, a friend disposed of a crossflow in his - apparently it made a lovely bang as it was emptied into the truck. This was a while ago, as even a knackered 1300 crossflow is now valued in troy ounces
