Couldn't quite muster the enthusiasm to venture under the Makem Mobile so thought I would give The Proper Car some attention...

Refitted the original front SAM in the vain attempt to cure the automatic engine fan. It only became an issue when the garage fitted and programmed the new TCM, so wanted to rule the SAM programming out as the cause. Basically I think the programming they did got confused by the towbar. Since I fitted the more powerful fan the towbar requires, it has been coming on alot less and for much shorter periods.

No such luck.

Went to recode said SAM to activate the heated steering wheel only for the interface on my diagnostic dooodah to crap out.

That's ok, the OBD socket is a bit ropey... Solder in the replacement. Still no joy. So that's another thing to chase up.

Replaced the centre console with a leather wrapped one from an S600 that I acquired as part of a bulk purchase for part of the bigger project. Looks much smarter than the vinyl one it replaced so calling that a win.

Also acquired a couple of the looms I require for the next project. Just two more looms, and all the fixing hardware for Phase 1. Phase 2 is going to require a trip to the continent to source the primary components.

This car could have made a really interesting upgrade thread. I wish you'd have started at the beginning and kept us up to date with what you intended to do, and then your success/problems in doing so.
Oh well .

I can still do that ;) No pictures though, post Photo bucket, I have never quite got the hang of putting them up, but could do a series of short videos detailing the various additions.

Although, having said that, there never seems to be that many people that log in nowadays, and there'd only be a percentage of those that do would read it.
Up to you, I guess, see how it goes.

Driven the RRS in several areas of the Lake District over the last few days, I can only describe the scenery as stunning , and the pubs & accommodation are pretty good as well. 👌

Have you done Hardknott and Wrynose yet? You can wipe out a few cyclists while you're at it.  :D

Drove the Austin onto a trailer and took it to an indoor car and bike show Fri, drove into the building as well. First time its moved under Omega power, had to put a "nappy" under the  sump to catch the oil leak from front seal. Had a lot of nice comment and what the hell is that engine?  trailered it back Sun and drove it into workshop. Got it back on lift and started to strip it down to get at seal, theres a cross bar between the strut towers that also acts as a front wing brace and rad mount. Its bolted to the strut towers with vertical and horizontal bolts into rivnuts, the horizontal ones are spinning and cant hold the back as vice grips wont hold. Buggered my Knee trying to get the grips on so had to come home, up 3 fights of stairs one at a time just using my left leg.

Gave the grey one some love yesterday. Finally located the source of an irritating clunk, turned out to be the top diffount. Removed, cleaned, retightened, now sorted. Also squared up where the gearlever was sitting in the gate, and, most importantly, gave him a thorough bath, wax, and interior clean.

Got my tame guru bringing his laptop.up.tomorrow for another couple of faults, then hopefully I can have him on the road next month!
