The biggest issue with the job is the weight of the assembled struts as you try and d get the nuts started.

Fortunately I was able to balance them on the bottom arms supported by one of those inflatable door wedges to get the top nuts in. My biggest issue was getting the suspension pulled down far enough to get the bottom bolt in.  ::)

Those arm bushes are pretty tight on those... One reason why they handle so well... Life's a compromise.

What's killed it? Rust?

Actually that wasn't strictly true, it did fail, knackered front discs and rear arm bushes mainly, and advisories for corroded subframes front and rear, corroded rear arms, and corroded rear springs. He said the subframes had about a year in them.  :-\

What's really done for it though, is a failing dual mass flywheel which accounts for the stiff gear change and vibrations.  :(  The End.  ;(

I was emotional when I posted the MOT fail!  ;D

Took a Yeti full of rubbish from my unit to the skips, lots of cardboard from new parts for the Austin. I can now open the other door without a landslide! Front wheels in car as well to get balanced when I pick up the rear wheels with new boots on today. Not long now before shakedown runs, bleed the brakes again with only some minute bubbles from front caliper and suspect that was being sucked in around nipple threads. Brake solid but goes quite soft with servo, normal for Omega?

Yeah, very normal. There is an adjuster under the normal brake pedal that can take some of the slack out but it's the way they're designed.

7 Seats is a pretty rare option no? Although I'm not sure how useful the third row is, unless your aim is to make young children and midgets vomit in the boot of your car.  :D

Ignore the incorrect torque figure they quote in the ad, in fact it’s 369lbs ft👍
