Sorry to hear about your Mum Steve. Even though it's expected, it still leaves a massive hole. My Mum died on Boxing Day 2020 and it's considered a bad time of year, but when is a good time for something such as this? All the best to you and yours mate.

Sorry for your loss Steve.
I would imagine your Mum had a long life, but it doesnt stop us missing them dearly when their time comes.
Mine went quite early at 68, but Dad struggled on to 83, which was about 10 years ago.
He was better off out of it, but I was still heartbroken when he went.

Yes it’s strange and sad, we know we can’t  last forever and think we are prepared but when they go it’s still a shock.

Just seen this, sorry to hear that. 96 is a good age but doesn’t make it any easier. Hope the weather is half decent on the 15th.

Sorry for your loss Ste, 96 is a damn good innings but that isn't much comfort at a time like this. All the best x

Sorry for your loss Steve a good age though , I lost my mum 8 years ago she had a tough life with my father, he died last month he was 89 he was a horrible bastard we fell out big time around 25 years ago so his death hasn't affected me in the slightest, never got to say goodbye to my Mum which I found hard thanks to his stubbornness .

Thanks all. Everyone's experience is different, we've been expecting mum to go for a while and, in the end, it was a merciful release.

I know how that feels from when my Dad was in his 80,s with Dementia and no dignity.
Its mixed feelings really. Its good for them that they dont have to suffer any longer, but doesnt stop us from missing them.
The number of times I went to pick up the phone and call him, as was my nighly routine for years, was ridiculous.
It took a couple of years to get out of the habit.
