ps we are talking about the ones that are attached to the long black rectangle of plastic that has the ''eco tec'' usually on top? :)

If they are blocked , suprised if the rocker gaskets aint blown or have they just recently been done ? Must of been weazin like a good un . Check the plug wells  ;)

Yes mate, recently done ;)

there's a tiny bit of oil in the plug wells. ill clean this and then see if there's any more being produced after just to double check the gaskets aint still leaking  :y :y

Mine too......... ;D

Yes Webby.Thats what happens when the breathers dont get cleaned out for a long time. The camcover gaskets cry enough and thats the result.Got approx. a third of a pint of oil out of the plugwells. :y

Thats the CDX project btw.Not ny own car. ;)

So it would seem.Previous owner said car ran great until the bootom hose blew off the rad, which signalled oil cooler failure. :y

So, clogged breathers equal pressure from the oil being ''forced'' through and putting pressure on gasket and breaking?

Ok kids, here we go....

Tonight I got a rare couple of hours to myself in addition to coming home for lunch. So, I started cleaning my plenum, breather bridge and throttle body.

Just really wanting to know what you think. I can definitely get more gook out (which I will do) but just wanted to know if it would be ok if I left it as is. Here are the piccies......

Ok firstly there's this pic... this is a 3-4 inch drill bit. The pic shows the drill bit as far as I can get it in. I did attach it to my drill and give it a few whizzes round. The amount of shite that came out was grim!!! Now, it does this also for the other tube next to it. I'm thinking maybe this stops due to the circle bit on top. Or should i just go nuts with the drill? The circle with the 4 tiny holes cleaned up real well.....

Second pic. The other end of the breather bridge. I can get the thin drill bit all the way in. When I blow carb cleaner through the 2 big pipes (pic 1) the only ones the cleaner shoots out of is the two bigger pipes on the end. Is this normal? Should I be using force to make more headway??? I'm guessing that the two thinner ones inside go through that circle bit with the tiny holes hence why it doesn't shoot out of these?.......

Pic 3. The throttle body. I've cleaned them pretty well I think paying special attention to the edges of the butterflies. There's still a little bit of shit but it's going to take a lot of elobow grease. I will obviously do it but is it worth getting them any cleaner? Your thoughts appreciated.....

Don't forget the pipework, esp the 'Y' one, and the holes in the breather box at the back.

Shame you haven't got access to a compressor, the sludge can't stand 35psi air pressure for long  :y

Bung all holes up of one end of that plastic breather up and fill with cleaner / leave over night . That should shift it , dont drill into it .
Connecting rubber pipes / de gunk them as well or wont be worth you cleaning the bit you have showed unless you have cleaned them already  :y Nice job on the throttle body , looks clean enough  :y
