Depends how strong your floorboards are. At least the Jag lump is aluminium, so potentially not quite such a boat-anchor.

As I just said to someone who shall remain nameless - if I was to have something on the floor then either the Jag lump or (as it's more common and cheap as chips blown up) a Rover V8..

Yeah, talk of single digit economy isn't uncommon on the Cobra forum.. although most people get low teens on a cruise I'm hoping the 2.88 diff from the V12 coupled with a 6 speed box and injection will lead to some kind of economy and a car with a useful first gear (useful for something other than clouds of tyre smoke, anyway )

Still.. V12 on Webers in a California rep? That'd be a sound track to die for!


P.S. Mark - I'm willing to bet it's under 600lb for the Jag V12? I'm putting an iron block boat anchor in the Dax (granted slightly lighter as it's got aluminium heads & intake, but it's still a big ol' iron block)

I'd go A8 or Jag XJ, always been those two for me.

I just bought myself a Jag ... not quite an XJ, but it does have a 6ltr V12

Nah although I'd love an XJS, they still command a pretty penny price wise

Fair point, though - with Jag running gear.. the diff weighs as much as the T56 'box nearly gave myself a hernia when I picked it up.

suspect to compare realistically it will be V6 - the Phaeton V6 diesel is often referred to as "the sensible one" - running costs etc and depending on model/year  may even be same engine in both A6 and Phaeton

I seem to recall a post here that mentionet shocks for phaeton were ridiculously expensive.
Phaeton looks great but audi maintenance costs and spare parts availability are definitely better so...

the Phaeton shock suspension issue is confined to pre 2004 models on the basis that they no longer manufacture the suspension struts and therefore if buying new you have to change all 4 plus the controller. On later models there is not the same problem. A fully comprehensive warranty from VW/Mondial after the 3 year intial period is £880pa with no excess. If you do not want to pay £880 a year then this can be varied to a cut down critical components cover again with VW for around £330 with a £250 excess. Warranty Direct is £1600 at the top level with main delaer option selected.
