Omega General Help / MAF Fitted

Omega 3.0 elite estate 1997  car was not starting , well would with a lot of effort, so i odb2 came up low voltage MAF, so i purchased a new MAF fitted. cleared error codes runs ok. the problem i have before the problem MAF i could turn the key no throttle startup no problem, no i need to apply a little throttle to start, also if engine idling, and i depress the throttle quickly ,, there is a slight delay before pick like dead spot
if i depress normally seems ok, i have ordered a new air filter to see if its that. i have been told it takes 20 miles for the ecu to setup after MAF fitting .... is that True?

Also looking at the back of the engine top under scuttle there is a Rubber Hose about an inch across not connected no clip on it can not see where it goes looks like it goes down to the sump could it be a breather, please advise

on board computer led change to blue..
Been having nightmares trying to find the riight l.e.d 12v replacement ,, problem being not bright enough, i have tried about 6 different types, and i know there are alot of people in the same position been driving me mad,,, well
GREAT NEWS ..  i have found the direct replacement to change youe dull old white bulbs to blue l.e.d type , so does nort matter what type of computer you have ie: 2 buld type or 4 bulb type these are the one,s

hi just thouight i would let you all know i have solved the mysterious problem ..
my alarm horn went up in smoke the other month.. just as i was driving smoke in the car night mare..
got a new horn and loom ready to fit.. but first i needed to find the electrical short that caused the problem,,  since the smoke, my drives passenger door would not lock any more.. plus the curb lights on the door was not working either, so first checked the fuse under the dash , that was ok. now this fuse 20amp handles the central locking and the kurb light. when removed ,, yes u gueased it the locking did not work and no kurb lights on all doors replace it all working bar that drivers passeger door.

so i traced all the way to the rubber cable cover which goeas from piller to door,, two broken wires,, repaired all ok.. i spoke to some one at gm and the said it was a design fault,, so i replaced the brken cable with a rubber coated wire, which can handle more door opening and closing.. so if you get a locking or door light problem ,, put this on your check list

Omega General Help / wet carpet bottom drivers door

hi can anyone help...??
problem drivers door on 3.0 elite estate 1997, i have a wet carpet on bottom of drivers door
but can not seem to see were its getting wet from i have checked the rubbers round the door which seem to be intact.
no splits ect , i have checked the round rubber drianhole drivers side under bonnet thats not blocked, its got me stumped?
and when i say the carpet at the bottom of the door is wet ,, i mean sopping wet,
is there a way of testing door seals ect, or is there a fix
i cant be the only one with this problem??

Omega General Help / alarm

a rock went under my car a few moths back then suddenly smoke started poring in through the vents ,,, nightmare stopped lifted the bonnet and noticed a smell of burning,, oh by the way i could not turn the engine off, took key out still ran , had to remove relay.. anyway
found that the alarm horn was burntout, i meen realy burnt, chared a few wires round the box... so i removed it and got hold of a second hand one on ebay.. while i was waiting i put the car up on ramps to see what damage the rock had done.. to my suprise nothing a small dent in the sump, but nothing to wright home about.....

a few day later the alarm sounder arrived i refitted it and rewired the bad wiring.
test.... central locking works red light on dash flashes , drives 100%
when i lock it indicators flash doors lock..

so im stummped. how can i test to see if the sounder is working, im impuzzled about the rock and why the sounder should go up in smoke :-/

my air bag light comes on after 10 seconds. had it reset with tech 2

fine till i sat down on seat,, light came back on .. also heated seat not working ,switch works well light comes on switch,, also i would like to fit a lighter 12volt lighter socket that works both ways ie: on with key off  for a solar panel which i have , (keeps battey topped up when car left for long periods) using crock clips at the moment....any ideas cheers

ps.. ive fitted a new dolly on sterring, some one suggested for the airbag problem also replacement airbag  :-?

Omega General Help / Airbag light

   driving up to rugby today everything fine got caught in some traffic sat in a que for about 10 mins.. then out of the blue the airbag light came on.. i thought bit of a pain. it will probobly reset when i stop and restart ,, no way put the key in turn light comes on pre check then goeas of for about a second or two then comes back on and stays on.. can not get rid of it.. checked seat connections. unplugging the battery.. ect. i know the score about turning the ignition on with out the airbag plugged in.. never made that mistake.. it just came on .. could the airbag just go faulty open circiut.. i must abmit it does not feel as firm as it used to be a bit more spongy than normal im sure it used to be firmer,, is there anyway of testing the drivers side and passenger side airbag unit..

just so i can eliminate the bags.. it just seems a bit strange to come on all of a sudden
any help would be much appree ,, oh also i have a new v6 locking kit if anyones intrested for sale
or exchange for a obd scanner reset tool,,

Omega General Help / drivers side passenger door

i have a strange problem all may doors lock except the drivers side passenger door i have checked the fuse which is fuse 20 i under stand the fuse controls door light and solaniod, when i removed the fuse the cental locking and the door lights went off. replaced it 3 doors working but the passenger door does not.. the light on the door does not work either.. i tested the voltage to the bulb holder nothing,, which leads me to suspect a break in the power to that door,, any tips for testing circuit cheers

my centre box left hand side has a hole.... blast so i thought i would get a complete system bar cats,, saw one on e-bay seemed really cheap at 80 pounds after 3 weeks waiting for delivery, i gave up on the company and started searching the net came across a pivate ad.. three pieces for sale thats the left and right middle and back box, he paid 345 pounds ,, had to sell car for some reason i think engine problem or somthing antway the person that was buying the car said he could take of the exhaust because he was beaking the car,, he offerd the complete system to me (GM parts) for 100 pounds. picked it up today looks like brand new.. the only thing that is differant is the back box. which has one tail pipe where mine has two pipes,,

QUESTION: wil it fit and work ok it seems to match mine bar the tail pipe it came of a s reg 2.5 elite estate. where mine is a r reg 3.0 elite estate... any help or advise would be great cheers :question :question

Omega General Help / sunroof problem

i had a majar problem last week a rock went under my car and for some reason the alarm horn went dead short and burnt out.. i have a second hand one to put in soon.. but for some reson now my sunroof will not open i have checked the fuse which sems ok,, so im wondering weather its the relay ,, doas anyone know where it is (omega elite estate 1997) or im grabbing at straws here.... somthing to do with the horn burning out. every thing else electrical works seems strange because it only stopped working after the rock under the car... heeelp

Omega General Help / Rear Shocker test

[size=12] is there a way of checking rear shocks that are of the car,,, omega elite 3.0 estate air shocks.
i have purchased two second user which i have cleaned and repainted took hours. if i block the inlet hole and push down hard on the shock it goes down if i keep my finger over the hole it pushes back out .. can not see any leeks.. the reason is when my car was on the ramp for an exhaust fit the machanic looked at my rear shocks. which the bottom of which is covered in grease..  he said my shocks were leaking,i thought they were air shocks not full of grease....the handling is fine and with a rear rock the car seatles straight away.. im wondering weather the previouse owner had smotherd the legs of the shock absorbers to protect from rain and dirt ect... any thoughts whats a good test selfleveling ect any thoughts would be much appreee [/size]

Omega General Help / knocking inside drivers door

 :-/i have a strange clonking noise comming from my drivers door on my omega elie estate 1997

it only happens when i go over bumps in the road or speed humps , or rough road, i have already hade the door panel of to fit new pioneer speakers, then the only thing i had to repair was the pastic strip which had come adrift from the hardbard, electic windows work fine bit slow but nothing from the norm..
im just wondering weather anyone else has had this problem.... its like something is loose but i cant see anything... very annoying

does any one know where i can get QUAD UPSWEPT 4 branch exhaust for my omega elite estate 30.i or a good pimpy back box setup i know you can get one for the astra thorst is the name i think .... also i need  to replace the l.e.d on the irshmer rear spioler but the screwws are rock solid tried wd 40

Newbie Welcome Area / Smoke gets in your eyes

 :-/ i have just had a bad day.. were should i start. went to take the beast out today to try and get some new self leveling shocks.. oh the car is a 1997 omega elite 30.i estate, anyway driving along 30 40 mph then suddenly a huge bolder or rock fell from a lorry did not have time to miss it went under the car what a noise i thought the engine was going to fall out. i thought i was lucky .. then suddenly smoke started coming in fro the vents i meen smoke that bakerlite smell smoke !! thinking electrical the car is going to catch fire.. pulled over fliped the bonnet and smoke was coming from the drain hole drivers side,, oh f)ck ,,,, so i turned the ingnition off !! it would not turn off engine still running.. panic set in so next battery terminal disconnect.. no tgools but i did have a leatherman multi tool so diconnected the battery "still running the engine compartment was filled with smoke. i thought this is it goodbye old friend.... then i thought ok relay time so i flip the relay lid right send and removed relays at random. then the car stopped . still smoking from the area ..  but dying down
went back home taxi got some tools test equipment removed the cover to find....... the alarm siren dead short, burnt straight through the casing. now looking under the car i could see were the bolder had hit front cat and back box, but how the hell would that cause the alarm siren to short out like that...

i removed the sirem/horn made good the wire , no plug or socket left. fixed everything down reconnected the battery.. thinking the worst i put the key in hay presto everything worked 100%
bar setting clock ect. plugged in dinostic reader no faults. central locking works immobilise works..
i could have lost the old girl, if i had not done what i had i think well i know she would have been toast.. has anyone any ideas. oh and also has anyone got a spare alarm horn and plug with cable if anyones breaking the gm number is 90508618 pj ,, long ditty but i just had to tell you all very strange. car is due for mot soon needs new shocks.. was going to fit normal and bybass the pump, but i think i will treat her ,, help her recover hahaha
