General Car Chat / Re: Car Ramps
« on: 13 May 2015, 00:28:57 »
use it on my ramps and omega clears and runs up ok without snagging, so have actually tried and tested it. bits of wood about 18" long.  mines standard omega elite, not talking lowered sports chassis, or body kits.

also works with my gt which is even lower than omega

Your omega! Not everyone else's, which is why you don't see the point. A perfectly valid point. Weather you accept it or not.

sure theres more standard omegas on this forum than lowered sports chassis, or body kit jobs.  why are you so aggressive and argumentative with people who don't agree with you.  i'm a newbie on here, and looking back over oldish posts, i see this attitude from you a lot.  do you have a mental issure?

Your right foot controls the throttle pedal ;)

first try cleaning throttles and make sure spindles are free moving and not tight

It's drive by wire ::)
I know, same as my 3.2
as i said clean throttles and spindles first, could be sticking. remove bagpipes and unbolt throttle bodies. if no improvement could be iffy tps

You know, yet post that that the drivers foot sets the throttle. It  doesn't , the Tps does. ::)

read the posts properly.  op asked "Probably a silly thought but what controls the throttle peddle. was just thinking perhaps engine/gearbox is being told the wrong thing so not sure what to do"

throttle PEDAL is controlled by your right foot.  u got no sense of humour?

General Car Chat / Re: semi or full synthetic oil ??
« on: 12 May 2015, 00:30:10 »
At the garage we use 5w30 semi and 5w30 full fat. Semi goes in old cars and shite boxes, fully goes in nice cars. Simplez  ;D
Fully sympathetic would be better in higher mileage cars as it holds its viscosity, better than semi.

Nope. Fully is thinner. From the outset. Another reason why 10w40 is better on higher mileage cars...for omegas. Certainly.

fully syn 5w30 no thinner than 5w30 semi, and as said fully synth will maintain its viscosity better (longer) than a semi.  bad practice to use a thicker oil than manufacturers original spec.

Still needs an immobiliser chip though.

Car pass is, naturally, only available from vx. The numbers on which, is needed to programme the immobiliser chip via tech2. Admins here have tech 2 Kev being nearest you. :)

Other than that, as said.

"A decent automotive locksmith will be able to sort all of that for you, for about half the Vx price and while you wait.

It ain't rocket science."

Including immobiliser chip

Ramps and stands as you never know  ;) I drive up some bits of wood first then slot the ramps in after .

Most modern cars have this problem with snagging on ramps. sensible solution, seen it used before.  don't see point of jacking car up to put on ramps when you can drivre it up

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: MID what can you do?

Asking the same question twice in two different sections won't help you get cohesive answers ;)
thats a helpful answer to a newby posting in a language not native to him

Omega General Help / Re: Door cracking
« on: 10 May 2015, 23:43:26 »
The cracking noise is the steel flexing around the check-strap mountings in the door, yes the bushes do wear and make a similar noise..
Think there is a how to guide.

Possibly, yes,  but there are other things to check before needing to fit the field service kit.

Such as?  would help if you identified them

You could build one with pallets.  ;)  There are plenty of designs and step by step instructions about on the web. The one below is quite simple but you'll get the idea.  :y

we had one like that as a field shelter for the horses
