chaps, only just caught up with this thread after i lost it  ;D

Jaime - Yes i want to go pillion at some point, prob going to wait for the summer months.

However i still want to learn to ride a bike, but just tried snowboarding... WOW...  :D

So tempted to go that route as the 'hobby' but still want to learn to ride a bike.

But i think i will need leathers, not going on the back of a bike in jeans and t-shirt. I know you are a good rider/driver, but there is always the unexpected, so i will need some leather for protection!

Anyone had experiance of a bike called the "Hornet" ?

Seen a few in London, I like the looks of them, forget who makes them.

The 600 Hornet is only a small (phisically) bike though Tunnie. I get the impression though that you're tall-ish. You'd be riding one with your knees in you ears.  ;D  ;D

I am 6ft4, i had to get the biggest broad they had when snowboarding!  ;D

BUT i am very light weight, only 10st, so it can't be a heavy bike.

find a shop with one in and have a sit on it,see how it feels.the 600 would be an excellent first bike.you could also have a look at mcn (paper or website)bikes for sale to get an idea on prices of bikes :y

I think you'd drown a 600 Hornet, & your knees would definately be in your ears being that tall. I can't offer any options though, but at "just" 6' I bought my TDM cos it's a tallish bike. Weight doesn't have much affect when you're moving though.

Absolutely.  I have some spare protective clothing if you want to try.

hornet is a detuned cbr 600 (or 900), and unfaired. Still go like s off a shovel

Tunnie. The relative weight of you & the bike means nothing, it's basic physics mate regarding balance which does'nt matter once on the move. I'm 6 foot 1 & @ 17 yrs. old was only 10 stone (straight up)!!
One day i stopped @ Broadwater traffic lights in Worthing. When you stop on any bike you instinctively put one foot down hence subconsiously leaning the bike a degree or two that way. All well & good till i leant the bike to the left but could'nt put my foot on the floor cos my trainer lace found it's way round the gear lever, too late bring on the feeling of impending doom & over i went at a standstill, could'nt get out from under it. Luckily the bloke in the Cortina est. next to me lifted the bike off while laughing.
Worst thing, ....it was a T reg Honda 400 Superdream!!!!!!!!!! :-[
