Farage is almost a right wing extension of the Conservatives, and that deeply troubles me. :( :( :(

From UKIPs published national policy:

Assure for all people prompt and caring treatment in ill health.

Radically simplify NHS management and set up locally elected County Health Boards.

Give parents school vouchers to allow them to choose their children’s schools.

End the 50% university target for school leavers , scrap tuition fees and reintroduce student grants.

Change legislation to allow the formation of a greater number of producer co-operatives, putting food producers on a more equal footing with supermarket buyers

Support the new Supermarket Ombudsman to ensure producers receive a fair share of retail prices

and locally...

Achieve consensus
UKIP is unique in local government, because we do not 'whip' our councillors to follow party diktats, or toe the party line. Instead, we expect our councillors to represent the wishes of their electors at all times. That means it's easier to get agreement for the things that really need doing.

Yes, just so right-wing, Lizzie.  ::) ::)

"...it's the way I've been brought up to..... spend my benefits on what I'm used to..."  Daybreak interview with Tracey MacDonald. (0.50secs)   Dragging up people like this really does not help the debate in my opinion.....  ::)

All lot of people slagging off the government for cutting benefits, and UKIP for not having any policies on welfare.  So what about Labour? What is their position on benefits? They're quite happy to slag off the government, but as usual Millipede and Bully Boy Balls arn't offering any alternatives or solutions....  :-\

I for one applaud the government for at least trying to break the dependency culture/cycle that Labour created whilst in government and I was saddened by reports a few days ago that IDS has given up trying to reduce spending on welfare and will try to manage it instead.  :(  If they and future governments give up trying to get people off benefits and into work, then we will have many more lost generations of youngsters....  :-\

I really don't think that their ideal is to sort out the welfare system, Tigger, I think that it's possibly the only place they can make a start on saving money. If they could get away with cutting old age pensions and the like, they would do it. But they can't.

The untouchables......which is as it should be if the pensioners in question are in need.

Wealthy pensioners however should not be considered untouchable.

I see this as a blatant attempt to take money from the poorest in society. :(

We've not had a socialist government in this country for years. Tory Blair stood just to the right of Vlad the Impaler. ;D ;)
