It would only be a couple of minutes work to make new ones of whatever length I needed. Far less time than you've each spent on the phone.
What diameter are the pins? Hopefully it will be an off the shelf size. When I fitted new ones -to my solid discs- I binned the old ones, so have no way of checking

86mm long x 6mm wide   The last 5mm is tapered off to fit inside the calliper.

Tbh, the pins can be cleaned up and made to hold in position with a blob of lead / solder on the head before fitting.
Imo, the biggest problem is the springs (or lack of one in my case)

Thanks Al, i'll give you a shout tomorrow mate  :-*

I've just spent the last hour cleaning the pins up with a wire wheel and they seem to have come up pretty well.
In morning, i'm going to remove the callipers providing I can prove the bleed nipple works and do the same then rebuild without the springs.
Need to be on the road asap now.

Could drill caliper holes, were wasted part of pin goes into caliper body and use a roll pin.
Mercedes use a pin with a small R clip, w123/124 chassis.

So, it's an appropriate length of 6mm rod, cross-drilled in a couple of places for r clips, or even a loop of lockwire. If you peen one end over, you'd only need one hole which would look more original if that matters to you.

That would take a couple of minutes, and a few pence worth of material. And you could have it done before you go to bed.

For the cost of them I'd buy new ...... not that I ever needed to replace them in my Omega or Senator or Senator or Carlton or  Manta or Cavaliar coupe .......  ;)

I did replace the anti-rattle cross shaped clips though ....... they rotted through  ;)

Same as Mk2 Granada... wonder if Nick has any knocking around for comparison purposes :-\

I've just remembered that one of the ways around this problem when you space Ford M16 calipers to go over vented discs is to use a long split pin. This is because the longer pins required are even harder to find than the VX ones we're talking about, and split pins are quick, cheap and easy.
