I was travelling Traveller Plus - can't risk scum class with BA anymore. I have some priority on AA, so that usually gets me group 4 boarding on BA if I have the misfortune to be on a codeshare. First PAX aren't an issue coz they turn left from doors 2 or 3 on a 777. Same for the front cabin of Buisness/Club - it's the second (rear) cabin of Buisness/Club that's the problem IME. Yes they get to board before me, and I assume once they see the aisles clear after their busload are in position they think its Ok to stand up and start faffing about with stuff in the overhead lockers. And then the next bus load arrives, and they're all in the 'effin way trying to find a book, or laptop, or phone charger, or whatever.

SQ solve this on the A380 by putting all Buisness PAX upstairs, and downstairs is First (who turn left) and Scum (turn right). Not an option on B777 obvs.

Internal flights in USA (I did 6 internal flights this trip) are becoming more problematic due to the use of smaller aircraft (Embraer/CRX). There is never enough overhead bin space on these compared to the older B737/B757/B727's.

And another BA whinge - was expecting to do the Barbenhimer on the LHR->JFK leg. Except neither film was on the BA play list. Can't watch Topgun 1 or 2 again, so ended up watching some Star Wars spin-off stuff. AA did have Barbenhimer for the LAX->LHR return, although I fell asleep half way through Barbie and only woke up just in time to watch Oppenheimer before breckie was served.

Boarding any 777 from doors 3 suggests a much bigger problem :o

What you're describing is caused by people who don't know better or don't care.

Haven't seen Oppenheimer on board recently, will check on the way home from LAX tomorrow, but Barbie is definitely still available. Along with both Mamma Mia, and all the Bridget Jones detritus and all the Barry Potter stuff >:D

Neither were on BA0117 LHR->JFK on Sept 14th, operated by G-VIIM. I was in seat 23G. Both were on AA138 last Thursday. However, I think Oppenheimer would be better on TV or in the cinema - the headphones couldn't really handle the dynamic range between the music and the dialog so I was continually adjusting the volume. Barbie - no idea what that was all about!

LAX Thursday night was another nightmare, but not BA's fault. Accident between a Tesla and a Hotel Courtesy bus meant the entrance to the airport was down to one lane (the bus/Tesla were cordoned off - I think they were scared the Tesla would catch fire), so it took nearly an hour to get from the Avis car return place to T1. I decided to get off there and walk to T5. Then at T5 the auto check-in machine wouldn't take my passport, so I had to queue behind dozens of stroppy Chinese PAX with overweight baggage to check in manually. Took another hour. Then the TSA (Trying to Stop Aviation) lot seemed to be on work to rule - another 45 minutes to get through there. If the flight (AA138) hadn't been delayed by 90 minutes I would almost certainly have missed it. First time I'd been "happy" with a late departure.

Being crew certainly has it's perks... Sometimes get held up at Immigration especially if behind an Emirates or Korean A380 crew, or worse a Turkish Airlines flight because they always pull 95% of the passengers for secondary screening and eventually they simply run out of staff.

Departing much easier... Wave your ID, dump your bags into the scanner (everything in) and  go through. Which is nice. If they want to check anything they obviously can and do.

Incidentally I had my first experience of Avis at LAX. Couldn't fault the staff at the Preferred counter even though I was almost an hour early. Car looked every bit of the 76k miles on it and hadn't been washed but after the 600 miles I have put on it, it needs another wash.

The bus driver was something else... Larger (for an American) African American lady, zero customer service skills.

Incidentally they're moving to a brand new facility on October 9th which may or may not make a difference  ;)

Amazon  >:(

Got given a £25 voucher. Went to redeem it as figured I may as well get a Haynes manual for the Bini, but had to set up an account.

Grudgingly done, and voucher code successfully added. Tick the box to pay using voucher, manual is £23.

But it won't let me continue without adding a payment card even though the voucher more than covers it and there's no way on this planet that I am giving Amazon my bank details.

Mum has an Amazon account, but now I have entered the voucher code, I can't give her the voucher.

I don't know what pisses me off more... the fact that the person who gave me the voucher has wasted £25 or that I have basically given Amazon £25 >:(

Opposing shysters.

Sell them probably. Any reasonable company allows you to check out as a guest even with a gift card.

I should have just given the voucher away.

Put your card details in, complete the transaction, then remove the card details!  Then stop being a tin hat plonker!

Next you'll be suggesting that I am weird for not having a faceachebook account.  ::)

It's not a tin hat issue, just a healthy disrespect for what Amazon is.
