Well...... as it bloody stands, if things don't improve "over the road" , I may end up coming in the Pug106 , and just partying for the day.... not having a means to tow the Meega (although I'll give CornishTaz a yell, he has a rigid towing bar. ... )
Messr's Hall & son have thus far STILL failed to accurately identify the leak.... having even sent out and got some tracer dye... yes they tried pressurising correctly, but it wasn't possible to actually see a straight forward hose leak.... THEN they tried the engine running to get steam... as it's sometimes potentially easier to spot the source than a relatively slow moving leak ...
the current thinking on their part is head gasket, or maybe a core plug, or something.... the leak would appear to be coming from towards the top of the block on the near side , running down , finding it's way onto the exhaust, and then creating steam to confuse things....
They say they're certain it's not actually coming from the back of the engine itself.... so all the usual HBV and V-Bridge etc sources are out...
although I did just point out a couple of things they hadn't yet tried, potentially something relating to the main transfer pipe union , or something else with O rings on it
They've had the meega since yesterday lunchtime.....
I'm gonna get a fat great bill for this, I can just tell.
Coupled with Mark's comments from last week, I'm rapidly losing faith in their abilities and , perhaps even their honesty..... but there's sweet FA i can do about it right this minute.
What we've agreed would be REALLY useful is some sort of flow diagram showing the entire cooling and heater system flow and hardware..... making it easier to ensure nothing gets over looked....
as it is, Both Car-data, and Haynes are virtually useless , with little real detail in explanations or descriptions, and the photo's are of such poor quality in both, and printed on such poor paper in Haynes as to be potentially worse than useless.
I kind of wish I could rely on it to get to Brackley.... to find out if it really IS that mysteriously difficult to trace, or whether they are in fact taking advantage of my good nature and urgent need.
if the former, then Mark would have added to his vast store of knowledge , and if the latter I would know not to trust them any more.... so service and MOT work could go elsewhere.
at about £50 an hour, i really don't need this
it might just be cheaper to scrap it and buy another Omega.
or , god forbid, something else a little more reliable.
Like maybe Tunnie's Senator.....
(bad joke, i NEED an estate)
