All good things come to an end, as they say. I have safely printed off all the usefull guides that I think might be of use to me(lists of fault codes ect) in the event of the OOF going tits up, which it surely will at some point, or then again will it mutate into a Signum or Igsignia or whatever they're called forum :'(

That should not happen if everyone who enjoys the Forum for whatever there reason acts that way  :y

I think forum has changed from when I joined a couple of years ago. Perhaps its just me but when Ive posted for help recently I dont find Im getting replies. i twould be a shame to stop using it as I have found it very useful. What I do find is its nearly always the same things asked before that end up with pages of replies often going completely off topic. Dont want to offend anyone just my opinion.

Future of oof is an interesting point re omegas and their availability. Another 3 years and it will be time to move on for me. Hopefully with oof or similar for company....? Which will probably depend on the direction Admins choose to take I guess?. Re name the current site? Add sub sections for other cars and their owners. Or heaven forbid pack up through lack of numbers, boredom, or just plane had enough.

Hmmm... Interesting thought there. Does it continue as OOF even when Omegas are few and far between so the "Spirit" continues :-/

Noticed similar tbh. Seem to be enough guides for the main issues now so more unusual topics appear to stay at the top longer. If a post gets no reply towards the bottom of the page bump it. IMO. Singularly the most disappointing thing that can happen to newer members on oof It seems to me.

Jeez, that took a fair bit of reading.

There's a lot of sense spoken in this thread and I'd agree that as the years pass the user base will inevitably expand and become less cliquey (I don't mean that negatively), this means that some old members may move on and often be missed.  And when this new dynamic occurs I think humour can often be misinterpreted.

What I could suggest is either having a jokes thread sticky'd in general discussion, or have a sub forum for jokes.  Either way perhaps make it clear upon entry that that area is completely informal and if easily offended is best to be avoided.

With regard to politics or current affairs such as climate change it's obvious that opinion will always be divided, such is the nature of these topics.  It is a discussion forum after all.

What I think is important is what to do when someone crosses the line.  I'd suggest instead of deleting posts/threads to edit the troublesome post removing the afflicting content and replacing with something along the lines of "Warning.  Posts that insult or are particularly hostile to other members will not be accepted.".  If repeated perhaps a small suspension from posting, increasing accordingly if the message hasn't got through.  This way people will see the thread/posts and know where the line is and will perhaps reduce similar behaviour?  Just my experience of course from primarily one other forum which has an even larger user base.

I really like OOF and find it incredibly useful and friendly, something which I try to reciprocate.  I've been on various meets with different forums in the past and had fun, I'm still quite new here so haven't been able to go to a meet yet.  Although I am a little apprehensive because during all of my previous meets the average age has only been a bit higher than my own, where as on here it must be double  :P

Its certainly too busy now that I personally cannot read every post to moderate.

The Help sections, according to the rules, should not go off topic. Chat sections, err, yes, well....  ;D

Toys all found and collected, popped back in pram after a week or 2, and all is good in OOF land again.  So I should be fine again for a few more months  ;D

Still, I got an awful lot done during my time away from OOF ::)

With a small mod team, time is a premium - I'm certainly guilty of taking the quick approach, and deleting threads, rather than spending 30mins sorting out a mess.  TBH, as I get older, my patience with adults acting like 3yr olds is getting less  :-[

Yep, we do Phil! :y :y :y

What fun it is as well to suddenly find you no longer have to be self conscious, agreeing with everyone, but can suddenly say "NO!" if I want to, walk on top of walls again, and pull funny faces at small children  (no, I am only joking and being childish! 8-) 8-) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;))

That is why I think Steve (STMO) probably is around 80 years of age really!! :P :P :P :P :P :P :D :D :D :D
