Had the Air Con Re-Gassed... Nice and cold now :y :y

I've yet to find anyone in and around this area who I would trust/recommend to re-gas my air con.

Best place I have found is here:-

Just finished the ilst of jobs that were over due and pleased to say its done:

Fitted new oil cooler and plate .New hollow bolts.Replaced coolant bridge and again fitted new hollow bolts along with dowty washers.Removed existing thermostat and replaced with new including housing and transfer pipe.Removed drivers side exhaust manifold and fitted 3 layer metal gasket(old one was single thin GM part).New exhaust manifold studs and copper nuts.New copper nuts to drivers side down pipe along with new GM exhaust down pipe gasket. All topped up with 50/50 coolant mix so hoping that has now put my long outstanding water leak and nasty tick/tick on a cold start.

2 long days but quite enjoyable and saved a few ££,s aswell.

Some on here would have done that in a day,but as you get a tad older the constant crawling around under the car and stretching to the back of the engine becomes a lot harder.

I was quite satisfied with my efforts .Currently still have gearbox to strip apart to replace those solenoids but getting the back of the jobs now sorted.

Will try and get those pictures of the solenoids done in the next day or so now as all tools are away in shed now

Today my Frankenstein vw motor ran for the first time. It sounded awesome!!!!! Only thing is I found the exhaust won't fit with the tow bar Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Always the bloody same two steps forward and one back. Been like this the whole time since I started this project 6 months ago  :-\ :-\ :-\

Washed it, claybar'd it (to get the winter grime off it), dried it, polished it.
Annual scuttle clean.

At the risk of a royal caning, what's claybarring? I have a gay friend who may answer it, but I'm afearred to ask...... :-[

Never come across that, good I assume?

Makes the paintwork silky smooth, removes all the dirt and grime without damaging the laquer.
