Yet another droplink on my DTi, Oil and filter on Mrs VXL's DTi, looked at the 3.2 and thought 'best thing I can do with that is sell it'

Anyway that was yesterday, today has mostly been my prefered mode of transport with just one horse power, perfectly balanced and designed to jump  8)

I have almost finished the vw air cooled mammoth build. Just waiting for the exhaust to turn up tomorrow then just the tow bar to go which I've done half of already. This wee project has really been hard work. Everything has been two steps forward one back. I'd rather build six LC engines than take on a air cooled bus again. I've got a right cob on about things not fitting and having to fettle everything.

It's a canister - the oil filter element sits inside a can, for want of a better term. All my previous omegas had spin on, but this one, the youngest, has the canister type.

After 8 months. Rosie the VW bus moved under her own steam last night.  :) :) :) No oil leaks only issue is a reluctance to turn over on the starter motor once warm but I know that's down to a dodgy engine earth, a two minute fix. Now I've built dozens of engines from old 1725 Hillman motors to Lotus Carltons and this one has been the biggest ballsache I've ever done. I'll never do another one I can tell you. The main issue has been that nothing fitted off the shelf. Everything has had to be mod'd some way or another. Even the new towbar had to be made to fit.  >:( >:( >:(. Still I don't care driving it again was fab. The supdupa engine is so much better and the rebuilt tranny is nothing short of a revelation!!! No more holding up the traffic going up hills!!! SMASHIN. ROLL ON WEEKENDS AWAY IN THE BUS!!!!  :D :D :D :D

Cleaned the inside, and exercised the s/l suspension to the tune of 400kg (it works ;D)

Swore at it, stripped down a door, found what was wrong, swore at it some more, threw tools in garage and had cup of tea.

God, I miss having a spare car, and I esp miss our little ol' Rover  :'( - nearly 4 months ago now  :'(

Fixed the automatic roof on the M3, which required the use of a whole two cable ties. Now I just need a paperclip and some epoxy to fix the other little roof-related problem. Nice.

And £12 worth of new aircon control computer (a 50p capacitor is blown, and at £12 replacement sounded easier than finding my soldering iron!) so it will stop blowing tepid air at me constantly.
