wow, thats looking really smart - a few of my friends in the VODC are into 'claying' and swear by the results.

that was my 1st attempt, and you will be surprised at the amount of crap there is lying on the paintwork, even tho i use meguires  3 step the paint cleaner still dont get much stuff off,it really needs a good machine polish later in the year to rid of surface scratches andd swirl marks

had a further attempt at installing CID today,   and some tech2 stuff on daughters astra....   updating the ECU  ,  telling it to ignore EGR

sadly,  no joy on either really.....  CID keeps saying no communication....

gonna have to get another "known good"  one from somewhere and see if we get any better luck........  try and find out if it's actually simply a faulty CID in the first place,  or the wrong CID for a mig, or what.......      gutted......

but huge thanks to Jaime for relentlessly trying to get the thing to work !!!

on the upside,   replaced the bulbs in existing screen, and dash so now i can see something.....   even if it's not the CID i want....

Astra seemed okay,  daughter drove it back to oxford,   but the next time she started it ,  the check engine light was back on....   it runs fine,   so....  we'll have to have a further play at a convenient moment.

it seems i also need to get a new battery for the Mv6....  arse....

I've just bought some of that Meguiars stuff, gonna try it when my shoulders aren't hurting so much and see if it brings the bonnet up ok - thats the worst bit on my car, the bonnet is really flat, the rest of the paintwork is just a bit chipped and scratched, usual wear and tear for a 12yr old car I guess.

Bought it and drove it home. From Wales. Rhydlewis. 205 miles. Set out at 9am, leisurely drive there (actually a friend drove in his 2.2DTi Omega), picked it up, leisurely drive back.

Oh, the car? 1994 Jag XJ12 6.0 - only cost me ~£110 in petrol & diesel ;D

Thinking the same myself. Just waiting for some better weather (two consecutive days even) to coincide with some time off work. I have a clay kit in the shed, along with some wax and polish.

I have just replaced the spark plugs on mine with a lot of help from Markjays guide , are there any easy jpbs on these cars  ;D
The old plugs were Champion 3 electrode type fitted by Halfords at some time all of the center electrodes were just about flush with the ceramic
I now have genuine 4 electrode ones fitted ,should I expect slightly better MPG with new plugs ?
