Got the Silver Bullet dirty. Very dirty. Looks like I've been rallying in it.

Had an oil level warning, so got to find a dealer around here as well.
Oh here we go... I'm not going under that thing for at least 6months.  ::)

Spent all day making after market parts fit. I've been rebuilding the VW engine and honestly nothing has bloody fitted. Bolts to long, holes out of line. It's been a right ballsache all sodden day. I can't believe how long it's taken me to achieve very little    :( :(

Just get him to take it through the car wash on the under body clean first ;) Although .. Silver Bullet is the Rusty Bullet isn't it? Might come out having had some significant 'lightening' carried out ;D

Remember to take the aerial off though if it's got a whip. Mine didn't survive the car wash on Sunday.  :-[ :-[ (Although I can't unscrew the aerial part anymore anyway :( )

Reading through Haynes on her old polo, there is talk of not undoing the head bolts, or the block will warp. Or something along those lines anyway....????

Right, I thought. That's getting sold then. Wtf? (16v 1.4cc petrol)

I reckon it'll hold more water in the body work than wash of muck. More of a rusty sponge one might say. ;D

Well there's no requirement to have a Cat on a diesel as they only have a Smog test at the MOT, however, there was some talk of a visual inspection being introduced into the revised MOT test which means that the Cat would need to exist.

So following on from a thread on here from one of our European members with a 2.5 TD, Loo Knee has worked out the best way to remove the innards from the Cat and weld it back together in a non-obvious way so that the MOT tester won't spot it.

Now have both the cars De-cated which helps a lot with the pulling away from standstill and improves MPG, especially on the motorway, it also paves the way to a remap....  ::)

Oh and should add that it's sharper more defined steering now it's been Pollybushed!

Removed the wishbones from AA's car and pressed the rear bushes out (using a good vice and a little heat), there not to bad although one is slightly worse than the other.

You're right about one thing.. I bought a Myford metal lathe at the weekend  ;D

Really do need to build some nice wooden racking and a workbench in the garage, though!
