Towed the new pikey wagon with the DTi and was surprised at how well it coped with the drive over the pennines :)

I'll be slowing the traffic up all the way down to Devon in a couple of weeks  :P

DTi's are great tow cars, manual gearbox and only 10nm less torque than a 3.2 plus the fact you'll do about 450 - 500 to a tankful.

Fitted a new exhaust to the Tigra over the road.

...and adjusted her is300 headlight aim after replacing the level sensor on the rear.

Replaced rear brake pads on Saturday. Had to go out to see the MIL before doing the fronts.  ::)

Remembered, while I was out, that I hadn't put the locking wheelnut key back in the car.

Went to do the fronts on Sunday, expecting the wheelnut key to be in the garage.. No! :o

Searched all my toolboxes. Searched the garage. >:( Searched the front driveway. >:( Poked around in the leaves by the side of the drive. >:( Walked up and down the road looking in the gutters. >:( Started eyeing up the welder... when my neighbour popped round with the wheel nut key. He'd found it in the road the previous day. :D

Needless to say, the rather locking wheelnuts are now where they belong.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Is someone wants the (comprehensively curbed) alloys from a 11 year old Vauxhall, they can fill their boots. ::)

If it's any consolation I did something similar the last time I had the wheels off the M3 .. found the locking key about a week later in the car park outside my house. I wasn't even aware I'd lost it, at the time!

That was a stroke of luck..

I once found one of my locking bolt keys in the next road, completely by accident a couple of days after doing something on the car. Bloody good job I hadn't needed it in the meantime.  Suspect I'd left it on a wheelbolt  :-[

Had a wheel off one of my Granadas for some welding, popped the nuts back on finger tight with a view to tightening them with the car on the ground...

Got side tracked and suddenly realised about halfway home whilst trying to figure out where a nasty rhythmic clonk was coming from ::) luckily all five nuts were still present (just) :o

Hmmm, sounds familiar.  I made it from Gixer's gaff to Brackley Tesco before I noticed a strange noise, and went home and did the wheelbolts up.  Bloody Readingites :P

Do you know what? That's almost exactly what happened to TB. Except "somebody" had to leave the pas side to go and help the Lazy Groomer Admin do his drivers side as he was whimpering he couldn't do it. It was his own stupid fault really. ;D

Four new tyres fitted this morning :y

Got the car sprayed with gravel this afternoon >:( Now needs a new screen, wing, bonnet and A post repairing >:(

Fortunately the driver of the formerly fully loaded gravel truck eventually noticed and stopped, leaving mile long gravel trail and a queue of rather annoyed people. And having seen and photographed the tailgate of the truck in the presence of the police I am amazed it hadn't opened sooner. Both side dogs were missing and only 1-2 mm of the lower latches were actually holding the tailgate closed. It had been open when the truck passed me, wnd had since been closed. Would only take a jolt to pop the latches :-\
