Just got back from a most enjoyable long weekend in Yorkshire. In and around York, Skipton & Wharfedale.
Car and wife performed as expected. Not a MIG or Yorkshire Terrier in sight.  :y

Newbie here, just acquired my first omega, a silver mv6 3.2 estate with leather, got it cheap as owner thought head gasket gone, sat down today and compiled a to do list!
Replace cambelt and water pump
Replace aux belt
Replace coolant, only water at the moment
Replace front discs and pads
Sort out drivers seat height adjustment not working
Clean out crankcase breather system
Replace rocker cover gaskets
Renovate headlight covers
Recharge air con
Service, oil,filters etc
Sort out alternator, covered in oil

Previous owner did no servicing at all, thankfully all these issues seem to be covered in this excellent forum, sorted out the coolant today, alternator is a pita, guess oil has messed it up, priority to get it sorted followed by the cambelt replacement, if I have missed anything please let me know!  That's my Summer sorted out,LOL

Thought I'd just change brake pads today, ended up breaking the wear sensor, finding rust and a failing flexi!

Flexi book for fix tomorrow AM, new sensor from VX so just the rust to ponder - so far taken back to good metal, and treated. Suspect welding required though.

That's actually not as scary list as it sounds, although things like A/C will need professional help.

Also, as its new, get the front suspension checked, I bet the bushes are shot.  Fortunately, we have a resident Omega suspension expert in Reading :D

As I left the carpark, I showed my displeasure towards my management, and once it found some traction, ragged it all the way home.

And to think it was my first day back after a decent break  >:(

Need to inspect the rear to see if I need to go tyre shopping  :-[

Why did the previous owner think the headgaskets needed changing? If it was due to oil in the coolant then there is a chance that the oil-cooler needs replacing.

Because most people who don't know this engine will diagnose the problem as that. As has been proven time and time and time again on here....

Yes, it goes far better than a 220k Omega should do.

To prove it, once again I had to show my utter disgust towards my retarded management. I went for the full effect today, launch start and all. Childish, but somehow satisfying.  Then I ragged it all the way home.

I think it may need another chat with a welder.  I'll try and get a pic over the w/e, as not sure its possible/feasible.

Flushed cooling system and refilled with long life antifreeze as when the previous owner had the belt and  kit and water pump replaced was so tight fisted that they just re-filled with plain water  :y :y
