He certainly knows how to spoil Mrs TB :D
And my beloved Bullet was left, due to time constraints  :'(.  I noticed that needs both headlights polishing as well. Best I charge all the drill batteries.

I'd wait and see if it can stumble through another MOT... We both know it's on borrowed time  ::)

Changed the poor plastic swirl flap connectors and rod for shiny new brass ones.

Much more positive and defined movement than the old one.

A job I had been putting off, but was very easy in reality.

Lets see if it alters the Zafiras performance at all, and keeps that code at bay.

Drove back from daughter's in Kent in the TD Estate. Purred quietly all the way, and I pretended that the computer MPG indicated at 41.3 was correct. ::) ::) ::)

They can be removed completely on the beemers. ....?

Gave the interior a bit of a clean on one, ignored the other.

Took the engine and box out off the elite and put the engine back in, all callipers off, ABS unit off. I've had it for today and this car will be a box very soon

I thought the big problem with beemers was that the swirl flaps remove themselves  :-\ (and then chew lumps out f the turbo vanes)

The swirl flaps allow the ECU to control the turbo pressure directly, rather than relying on a waste gate to dump excess pressure after the event. I don't see that removing the swirl flaps is going to work too well.  :-\

Early S6 BMW Diesels suffered the disintegrating swirl flaps, most people just remove them and fit machined 'plugs' in the holes instead.

Well I sorted out a problem with the new head unit, amp was not working so after checking the fuse was toasted, so changed that over and now have the bass working, but still no speakers on right hand side, checked the wiring yesterday and all was fine, so possibly an issue with the amp (outside of my expertise), so visit to the friendly car audio bloke at some point this week, Oh and I used the Maguire's headlight restore thing tonight and they have came up a treat, so well happy. Oh and this morning I cleared out a load of S**t from the boot and all nice and tidy now. All I need to do now is clean the car. However, on looking in the engine bay noticed an odd thing :-\, on checking appears the b*****d side cam gasket is gone and leaking oil, so hey ho and away we go ;D

Wouldn't that prevent the turbo from producing any boost?

Depends on the application of the swirl flaps on the Beemer v the zafira. Hence the question mark. :y

On e39 it make no difference to the driver.

They serve the same purpose... With Gm service wchedules, they coke up and jam, which then causes breakage which inturn kills the engine :-\
