Replaced the rear shocks on the TD (Sachs from GM same as OE), and gave her an oil and filter change. Someone offered to buy it yesterday at the local tip, I guess he thought I was there to throw it away. 8) :y

Fitted a new cambelt.
While I was in there, I also replaced the crank oil seal which has been leaking for sometime. This doubled the length of the job, as I had to make a tool to hold the crank whilst loosening the crank bolt. With a 20mm square bar bolted to the crank pulley and wedged against the water pump, I had an artistic curve in my long breaker bar before the bolt let go with a loud bang. I thought I'd broken something! Then I had to modify the tool to pull the pulley off the crank. Actually changing the seal was easy, and now I have a leak free V6**

** Yes, I know that the devil will skate to work before that actually happens, but I've had a couple of beers.

Get rid of the Trafic with its utterly hopeless, indecisive gearbox and the other shitbox we have had for the past week :(

Shame about the gearbox, as the old funbus is otherwise ideal for big groups.

Just got the engine out of one of the 190s. Remarkably not too bad a job, only had a couple of bolts decide not to play ball.

The rear yard now resembles a Crystal Maze puzzle*, with the amount of planks Ive laid out over the gravel... "I'll have a mechanical, please, Richard...".

*those of you who have met me will no doubt love the irony here. No, I don't wear shoulder pads and leggings to work on the car...

VW LT, the more old fashioned the better. Unburstable - and even policeman-proof...
