What have I done today, sadly my beloved 2.5V6 has blown a HG and yes I have regularly done oil and coolant changes so f****d off just before grimbo and all. HGs GM of course but can I save money on the exhaust gaskets valve seals and head bolts??

I used the entire Elring Head-Set when I did mine two years ago. That included the cam covers, cam seals and valve seals. I was really lucky to buy the whole thing for £12.50 too! The only reason I didn't use the exhaust manifold gaskets was because I upgraded to 3.2 manifolds at the same time. Head bolts were from Ebay and were about £25.

Sure it's HG?
Yep some loss of power recently but running smooth, on way home sudden miss fire with clouds of white smoke/steam from the exhaust, expansion tank remains pressurised after cooling down.

Last time I Mr DTM did mine, HGs were supplied by ebay shop Trechii, he recommened some cheap head bolts, IIRC the only genuine parts were exhaust gasket (use later MLS type from 2.6 or 3.2), the manifold to downpipe gasket, and obviously the cam cover gaskets and o rings.

HTH
Thanks for the advise am not to worried about doing it myself, any pit falls?

I used this gasket kit with Elring HG's when I did mine last year and 12000 miles on she's still going strong!  :y

Some say that the composite exhaust manifold gaskets supplied with these kits are crap and to use genuine GM metal gaskets.  I used the composite gaskets and have had no issues so far but I might yet regret using them.  :-\  ::)  ;D

Don't forget you'll need new head bolts and I got mine from CarParts4Less who were the cheapest at the time and they were Elring  as well.  :y The gasket kit supplier supplies head bolts as well, not sure what they're like though.  :-\

Good Luck!  :y
Thanks for the advice, good support from OOFers as usual :y :y :y

HGs are rare to go on miggys. More like to have it corrode away until its just the fire rings but these normally are bullet proof.  My fear is maybe the head itself :'(
