How can they test that then when they only operate now and again?

On HID equipped cars they should work whenever the headlights are turned on. Part of the regulations I believe.

I believe they work that way on all Omegas with headlight washers and did so on the Senator too.

Just remove the retaining screen, squeeze the cage top and bottom and it'll come straight out.

It was jammed in , dont think it had ever been out before . Ended up taking the whole climate panel and surround out  :( Luckily i'd done that on another or would still be there now  ;D

Sometimes some of the tabs need to be bent inwards or the edge of the top square cutout's can occasionally catch.

New timing belt and associated pulleys fitted, aux belt tensioner repacked with grease too as it was a bit dry, the cambelt DVD is worth every penny for someone who has not tackled this job before, all back together and running sweetly, timing on both banks was off by a small amount when the cover came off but spot on now. also found a small split in the rubber elbow on one of the vacuum lines to the bagpipes, all repaired and noticeably perkier acceleration now.
