Hoovered all the dead pigeons and leaves out of the purple project, got it cleaned back and gave it a good coat of chassis paint. I'll have a look tomorrow to get all the bits I have missed. It's bloody satisfying getting it that much closer to the road. Tax disc ran out in 2011 so it's been a while!

Fitted the new front oil seal, its a bit of a bugger to do. Found a bit of tube that was a bit larger in dia than the crank ,good bit of lube and it pushed in. Found an old VW air cooled main bearing was the right size to tap it in with a large socket, timing belt on and double checked. Made a crank locking tool from scrap bits but had to borrow Ds wrench to do 250nm, then giving it the 45deg it broke my 1m long Snap on breaker bar 1/2ins drive. Its FT so that will have to do, rad in tomorrow and see if it worked. You cant tell as the outer lip hides the inner bit. Elring seal and it was better quality than the first one.

Tried and failed to put fuel in it.  It could use some go-go juice, seeing as it was last filled in Fort William about a month ago ;D

Changed the clutch on the V70-not exactly done in the day it took just over two weeks, but most of that was waiting for new parts to arrive to replace bits that sheared/had to be ground off.

Got the engine fired up in the Austin, no oil leak!!! Warms up quick as well ,temp gauge held steady at just over 90C . Found I have a coolant leak where the heater pipes bolt up to the rad core, bugger I put instant gasket on the flange as well. Trouble is its a Metro heater and they are square section O rings.

Top tip for fitting the front seal as its a bar steward, bit of tube slightly bigger than the nose of crank then the seal just slips on. I would but not sure how to do that on here.

Collected our new caravan with it this morning, our previous caravan was a 2006 model had it for 14 years & it has been absolutely trouble free our new one is a 2020 & boy have things improved we're both really impressed with it, was a bit dubious about the extra width as they have gone to 8 feet wide seems much more spacious inside but on the road didn't notice any difference, so here's to a few trips away beginning next month.. 👍
