Last night was an attempt (an failed) to remove the cat pipe.  Damn lambda sensor will well and truly stuck in and the mount next to it is going to have to have bolt cut off, back under it again tonight.

I do like cutting it fine, need this done to get it through its MOT this week so we can use it to go camping on Saturday!
We had a need for something like this at the weekend, bloody thing would not come out.

I have one of those and they dont work that well TBH.

When they are seized in then thats it!
The one I had in mind has a complete circumference to it and the cable and plug fit through the hole in the side. But couldn't find it. It wouldn't fit the omega anyway as the size of the lambda nut is smaller than the plug obviously, so it has to be a slotted jobby.

Certainly The Daddy's wasnt coming out for anyone. Although we didn't have a lambda specific tool, hardened crows foot socket and glow plug sockets had no effect. As you say, seized. Even put it in a vice once cat removed, no chance.

But wondered if we'd had the correct tool to start with... Doesn't sound like it would have affected the outcome.

I guess cutting the bulk of the head off and drilling out the thread might remove it to save the cat. Although it was working ok prior to.  :-/

Off to the Cote soon  8-) so current one got new oil filter oil & new plugs, during which found oil in the plug wells and thanks to oof found that the cam cover bolts where not tight. Tightened and Cleaned it all up and will check again during trip, whilst carrying replacement (vauxhall) gasket etc to do if required. Wow i'm brave.

Previous one, which I have just sold on fleabay, jump started after a 5 week rest and now the spanner light is coming on after a few mins aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhh  :'(. This is hopefully going to be the cam sensor and I can get one tomorrow otherwise sale is going south with me.

Anyone had anything similar? Is it because battery was flat?

Well finally got the cat pipe off last night (lambda still sitting there taunting me), had to angle grind the center mount bracket off the pipe as that bolt was shot.

Damn I hate garages with air tools, the four bolts connecting cat pipe to manifold were stupidly tight (only been on there 2 months), had a right nightmare trying to get those undone.

Ill have another go at getting the sensor out tonight if I have got the new cat pipe in place on the car, going to order a replacement sensor this morning anyway.  If it does come out it will do as an emergency spare.

Also discovered that you can't get an Omega bonnet in a Vectra C Estate. >:(

So tomorrow I'll be taking one of the minibuses up to Heathrow to pick the bonnet up ::)

Not even driven mine today, but SWMBO used it to go shopping and managed to scrape the rear nearside door on the garden wall. Having hit the wall, she seems to have deemed it necessary to carry on moving and get the whole length of the door .................. WTF didn't she stop once she'd hit it?  >:( >:( >:(

Of course ...........................

I didn't! Just last week end I went down to the lcal body shop that's done various bits to the car over the years & asked him if he'd re-attach a door nudge strip (been a bit iff since it was removed & replaced last year) He Sikaflex'd & trim taped it back for me & then we stck a bit of gaffer tape at each end to help till the Sikaflex went off. I'd not even got around to removing the tape before she scraped the same f***ing door!  >:(
The drive is wide enough to comfortably park 3 cars side by side and she decides that she's try to park the Omega within a fag paper from the wall. She parks her bloody Smart all over the soddin drive .................

I'm still pi$$ed off  >:( ....... even though it's only a car!!!!!!!!
