Managed to talk my way out of hospital without having the Lumbar puncture.............which is nice.
Romford hospital should contact me about how to proceed. They might yet want to operate, we shall see.
May need Meds long term. Not sure.
Work could be a problem. As I work alone through the night, they wont want me back until / unless a Doctor signs to say Im going to be safe to do so.
That is a big concern.  :-\
Well...it is, Albs, yes. But, under the circumstances, infinitely preferable to what might have been.

That's true enough regardless of the short term financial implications of being off...

Better to take things easy until you're on the mend than getting stressed out and rushing back. Longer term you'll be in much better shape all round ;)

Although not quite the same, we had a lone worker agreement in place. We had a gadget that we clipped on our waistband/shirt pocket or whatever and it monitored our movement. If I didn’t move for so many minutes it would trigger an alert, and I’d get a call asking if I was ok. I’ll admit that it annoyed me as my job was computer based, programming measurement robots, so I didn’t need to move that often.  ;D
As we also had a training robot in our area, I wrote a dummy measurement program and put the program on loop mode, and then I’d hang the lone worker gadget on the robot arm so that it was constantly on the move.  ;D
In hindsight it was a bit silly but we all have little cheats to make the shift go by.   ::)

trying to pay at the self scan till in ASDA ....

it was bad enough having to shop on a Sat with the rest of the great unwashed (I'm usually in work all day Sat) .... but then the till just locked up. A member of staff ''reset'' it, tried again & it did the same. Mrs B then snapped & ''suggested'' that they open up a till & put the shopping through it otherwise she was going to empty the shopping into the trolly so we could take our bags away. The section leader made the correct decision & opened a till!

Unless we’ve only got a few items in a basket we avoid the self scans, as they do my head in when you have a trolley full to fit on the scanned items platform.  You can’t remove any items to make more space as the self scan throws a wobbly and you have to call for assistance. The assistant comes over, scans their card, and off you go again. You then scan something that’s security tagged and you have to call for assistance again, and again.  ::)
I raise my voice, letting my annoyance at the system be known, and then Mrs YZ gets angry with me.  ;D  That’s why it’s easier for us to use a human cashier, as it’s not worth the aggro.  ;D  I’m always polite to the assistant though as it’s not their fault.  :y

We started having food delivered during lockdown and have carried on ever since.
Wouldnt dream of spending a couple of hours wandering around a supermarket now.
For the cost of a fiver...... ;)

Been there with that too .... also got told off by Mrs B for the same reason.
This was the self scan where you pick up a scanner as you enter the store & scan stuff as you put it in the trolly. So we had a trolly full of stuff that we tried to pay for & failed.  >:(

Similar for me. Didn't realise I'd run out of Suet, so an emergency dash to Asda for some to make the Dumplings to go with my Steak, Mushroom and Cranberry Stew.

Anyway, two packets or Suet, only one manned checkout, so decided to risk the self scan/pay ones. Scanned Ok, put it my £5 note and all hell broke loose. Orange lights, red lights, supervisor, manager all asking what happened. Then after about 10 minutes some spotty yoof appeared, opened the machine, and started checking every cavity and recess in the effin' machine. Eventually they found my fiver, and shut the machine. Then I said what about my 10p change? Big mistake. Another fuss.

Anyway, long story short, a 'quick' 5 minute trip to get emergency supplies turned into a 45 minute ordeal. I made it perfectly clear that if even half the people required to sort out the machines were actually on the tills, then this would never have happened.

I always use the self scanners and find I can scan my stuff, bag it, pop a note in, get my change and be away much quicker than having to wait for some disinterested day dreaming bint to do it at a glacial pace.  ::)

What does piss me off though, is that gradually my local Tesco's has been reducing the amount of machines that take cash. Self Abusers!  :-X

If you wanted to scan get a job there.

Last time I scanned was at Safeway! Still got the sturdy green boxes!

Always pop into our local Sainsbury's early on a Saturday morning for a paper & minor items always self scan in & out in a matter of minutes brilliant idea .
