Drove it about 5miles and broke down.HBV let go big style for some reason. No little leak or any other indication it was about to do so.I take it these are GM only-just about everything else on these seems to be!

As with most pattern shite, If you want it to last more than 5 minutes, get a GM one. ETS exhausts and or supplier stuff aside of course.

Spent the afternoon stripping the Galaxy to get the turbo out.

Haynes tells us to balance the engine on a piece of wood and a trolley jack then pull the engine forward to access the turbo - er, no thanks  ::)

Got the inlet manifold, EGR and EGR heat exchanger out without snapping any seized studs :) Tomorrows task is to get the exhaust manifold and turbo out, split it so I can free up the vanes then put it all back together - simples (I hope) ::)
Another 7 hours in the rain and I finally got the turbo on the bench :y

What is the definition of a bastard bolt? If it is one that you cannot see and can only touch with one finger while your wrist is raked by hose clips then there must be about 20 I had to undo  >:(

Not really over fussed how long a pattern HBV would last as once it's on and sorted car only has to get about 4mls. to the car selling centre/auction place here in town and then hopefully I'll be rid of it.On a pence per mile basis it is from memory the most expensive car I've had, even the XJ comes in considerably cheaper!!

Had a quick check to see where my coolant is going to. Hmm. Anyone know where it ends up if the heater matrix fails? ::)
