Removed the power sounder. Constant siren every 30 seconds after start up. Removed it. Still constant siren every 30 seconds. I know it has its own battery but this always amuses me. Wrapped it in a towel and shut it in a box in cupboard at the back of the garage, just like the last one. ;D

It's probably still bleating away now. ;D

Want me to order some new batteries?
Er yeah if you don't mind Kev.  :) Although I better cut the old one open first to see if the circuit board is damaged...?

I was just about to order some leccy bits anyway.. Pop over with it sometime if you like. :y
Cheers Kev. :)

Pleased to say the Black Beastie flew through its MOT the other day.
Just a couple of advisories.
Both rear tyres are close to the legal limit - wonder why?
Quite pleased about that as these budget tyres dont grip very well  :o
and handbrake travel - which is down to me not adjusting them up correctly when I servcied them.

So all very good - apart from needing to get tax at the same time. :'(

I have one spare F1 in the garage, but wondering if it is worth searching for a good pair of part worns?
May put a post out to see if anyone has any? :)

Also - recently sorted the drivers rear door strip - that was fun, not - so looking and running well at the moment.
I will take some pictures and post of the uplifted Black Beastie (aka - the mufmobile). 8)

Just to add insult to my weekend, went to change the sidelight bulb in Mrs VXL's estate which would not come out and ended up snapping the adjusters and then glanced at the Crank pulley (it's a DTi as well) and guess what.... yep that one is cracked as well.... I reckon the cold snap had made the rubber a little less flexible....

Only a week until we go away as well....

Does anyone have a box of matches and 5 litres of petrol? At least setting fire to all three of them would keep me warm for a few mins.  :'(

Changed the oil (long overdue) and discovered there's a coolant leak somewhere above the bell housing on the oil filter side, as it's dripping off the bell housing flange (HBV up there?)

Oh and froze my nuts off as it was -6C this morning!

Could be. Could be a leak in the v also. Any coolant leak seems to drip down there one way or another. Is it loosing coolant? Was the residue fresh?

Drove mine up to the smoke, and back in the snow. Got out to be greeted by an exhaust rattle. Couldn't wait a couple of months could it. Sigh....

Been can repair I reckon. :)

Realised I had a small coolant leak from N/S yesterday.Had a look today and it was leaking from the radiator drain arpeture.Tightened the drain plug which stopped it ,but its now weeping a little from the drain plug seal Guessing it needs a new seal.As long as it doesnt get any worse, I will leave it until the weather gets better.Only takes seconds to fit a drain plug, but obviously need to drop the coolant from rad to do the job, and dont fancy that at the moment.
Did a little more to project CDX estate. Cleaned the breathers, and cleaned up a few parts ready for reassembly. All done in the shed  where it was relatively warm, around -2 would be my guess ::).Wont do a lot more until the thermometer moves a few degrees higher.Getting too old to freeze my nads off.Takes to long to thaw out these days. ;D
