I felt a bit better yesterday, and wanted to do something.

So I spent about half an hour compunding the headlights. The car now looks a lot better, and hopefully there will be a similar improvement in the light's performance.

Replaced o/s catalytic converter with a reasonably priced original GM,so now I have got rid of that horrible rattle on idle and start up  ;D .Normal service seems to have been resumed and have stopped getting strange looks from car drivers/passengers next to me at lights thinking thats a  " right old banger " he,s driving :-X

Whilst I  had the car the in air did oil/filter change so thats another job done for a while :y

Changed the drivers seatbelt and also fitted a new glovebox handle, however due to not having the locking mechanism I had to improvise with a mk3 astra barrel I had lying around and a self tapping screw to make it long enough to operate the mechanism  ::)

Replace the rear springs, which were KYB, rusty as hell but not broken. The back end rode very low, springs appeared to be soft. So fitted some Sachs ones. Next is drop links  :)

Last few days. (Elite)

2 New rear tyres
2 99% new front tyres

Off to garage for new coil pack, plus HBV valve.

Next off to get a new MOT, sadly it failed. (pair of rear springs , both broken, (My fault, car seems to have taken up flying lessons  ::) :D :D)

Quite a saga trying to get a matched pair of KYB's exchanged (Refund pending) but had to get some from another source and got KYB's this time at 2/3's the price of the 1st set  :y

Back to an old mates garage for fitting (excellent deal) allso had hand brake taken up and tracking done.

Car now all sorted for next 12 months (MOT wise) and better for being tracked.

Sorted codes on radio today.

Well chuffed with car, feels completely different  and a lot better to drive.

Small fortune spent so car will stay with for a few years to come.

Still needs work to perfect.  Mainly timing belt and rocker covers (clean breather pipes in process)

Feel it might be worth a visit for the tech2 updates at some point, so might as well do a fluid and filter change on box.

Also dropped the new 2.2 into garage, had a rattle on exhaust, same mate that did Elite springs does tyres and exhausts so test drove the car, stripped and refitted/aligned one of the pipes near back axle, test drove it again and all sorted.  Also commented on condition of the car and confirmed it was a fantastic buy.

Probably a good thing that there's no room left for anything to make it dirty then ;D
