Bought another one!  ::) Collect it on Sunday...  ;D :y

What flavour this time ??? :D :D :D

It's a 3.2 Elite saloon, which needs a bit of work.  A good friend of mine has been after one for a while, but doesn't have a very big budget, so he can go fook himself,Im going to break it.  :y

Thought so. ::) ;D ;D

That will, of course, be plan B if the car turns out to be too far gone...  ;)

Changed the dispack - (don't want to do that again in a hurry) and removed the power sounder. It got dark so will have to follow with assembling back wipers/scuttle.

Will do Paul.Thanks. :y

Im suspecting the alternator.Twiglet had very similar problems with the car a couple of years ago* and it turned out to be the alternator.I think the alternator has about 5 weeks warranty left,which could be handy,as they are pretty expensive I believe.
Have unplugged the bootlight switch,so will see if that helps.I noticed just now that the dash lights stay lit (dimly) when I take the key out,dont know if that points to anything ?

I just tried using a jump lead from the battery negative to the engine block.It seemed to spark a lot  (which was a bit of a surprise) but the engine turned over as normal and it fired up straight away.This leads me to think it has an earthing problem ?

Battery neg to engine block shouldn't spark at all so yes check earth points on body and lump :y

I think I will have a look at the engine earth strap first and then go from there. :y

Might try fitting an earth strap from the engine to the chassis,and if it solves it,all well & good. :-\

There should be one that goes from the engine block to the n/s/f chassis leg... flat braided steel, about 5 inches long.  :y
