Polished the Dennis, never know when you might get called to a sudden garage fire.
Oh Mr DTM, I am gonna drive* to Nottingham and kill you. Then kill you again, just to be sure...

* If I had a car that could do a 160 mile round trip

 ;D ;D :D

Washed all three half heartedly .. ok, jetwashed all three. At least the mountain of yellow powder is gone, they still need a proper wash.

Must re-flush the Omega again tomorrow..

Borrowed my Dad and his car w/ pikey bar to drag the trailer down to Pease Pottage and pick up a second lathe:

From a place called "The Motorcycle Workshop" that had a range of bikes outside from a Royal Enfield Sunbeam to BSA, Triumph etc and a Trabant on the road side ;D

I was hoping that second shot was your driveway, in which I'd be asking for a load of test rides  :D

"Second lathe" ooh, that's just not cricket.  :'(

;D ;D Well, the two will soon become one, so to speak..

The first one I picked up (on the left, in that photo) was manufactured in ~1963 and has had a hard life, there's a lot of backlash, the bed is definitely not bright & shiny anymore but it does have the screw cutting gearbox.

The second one I picked up (on the right) was manufactured in around 1949 and has had a gentle life or been very well looked after; there's minimal backlash, the bed is bright and save a few nicks right up by the headstock in great condition  (and has never had a regrind) and it also has the relatively rare clutch, but it's missing the screw cutting gearbox and the motor is marked "Hoover" - I'll bet that came out of a washing machine somewhere between 1949 and now ;D

So they both need stripping down to constituent parts and rebuilding, really, to leave me with one good lathe with clutch and screwcutting gearbox and one basic lathe I can sell on :y
