Broke my news years resolution again  :-[

But if you didn't get caught nobody will know, so just pretend it didn't happen.  ;)
Good plan :y.

It wasn't my fault, you understand.  Some poxy Focus ST thought he had bigger balls than he actually had.

You'd of thought I would have learnt, seeing as the demise of the Silver Bullets gearbox was about 30 mins after a soot chucker Pisshat was being a idiot, and had to be taught a lesson in going quickly  :-[

Big thanks to Tunnie for coming around with his daughter to read suspension codes on the Phaeton with his VAGCOM. The VW dealer will now have some explaining to do as to why the fault code is exactly what the symptoms suggested and does not indicate at all what they were saying the codes were. Guys on the Phaeton site predicted before it went to the dealer what the fault was likely to be and that is what Tunnie has now proven.

Man thanks Mark

Happy to help  :y

Interesting to see what VW say now  :)

This is so embarrassing for the dealer now. I took it back in today. They had Tunnie's output from the VCDS last Monday. They agreed to order the sensors. They have just phoned me to say that they started off NOT changing the sensor I asked them to change and spent 2 hours messing about. They then phoned to say they have tested the ECU and the ECU is showing - yes - an accelerator sensor fault. Spoke to the Service Manager who cannot apologise enough and is not sure where his guys heads were. I said this is serious as without an independent who is not a trained VW MasterTech I would have been on the wrong end of a bill of up to £2000. The part that is needed will arrive tomorrow and takes 20 minutes to fit. I will have to think how far I take this concern. Thanks again Tunnie.

No problem  :y

Glad to hear the VCDS output managed to get things going on the right track, I would hope as bare minimum they won't charge you for this sensor or the fitting.

Did they give you a report, detailing the ECU was 'at fault' - With approx bill to replace?

They only indicated what costs might be but 2 weeks ago they did want me to commit to 2 hours labour testing the wiring. This is when I said I could not believe that the test equipment could not diagnose the fault I took the car back - the dealer said they believed it to be the ECU. I asked  them what system they were using but have not got a proper answer - as said I do not know how far I will take this - I am away on business for a couple of days from tonight so will have a think. They are supposed to drop the car at home tomorrow.

How old is the car?  Think they are trying to scare you into getting a new one?

8 years old. This is just incompetence. Weird thing is they could have fleeced me when I thought the turbo was acting up but they fixed it for nothing a few weeks ago. Maybe they see that as a lost opportunity??

Did some repair on the hatch back. There was some rust at the rear wiper and a bump left above the licence plate.

No problem.

At last I sprayed the hatch back. Not so bad for a winter Caravan.....

2 middle aged men swapped the front suspension over between 2 cars, and had to replace rearward wishbone bush on TBE.  Took far longer than antipated, as we were both suffering injuries  :-[

I'm getting too old for all this shit ;D

Rear suspension today, that should be easier :)

Thanks, as always, to chrisgixer :y
