With Huge thanks to Mark (again)...

Swapped the fail cert for a pass...
Even had a comment about the good quality of the welding :)

Should keep her going some time yet.

They had an old Carlton Estate up on the ramps as well today!

Looked at it on the drive, whilst waiting for brake pads to arrive, which they didn't!  ???

Went to wash it and discovered that the scrotes who took my toolkit out of the garage last month also took the pressure washer  :(.

So took it to Tesco and used theirs. Gosh I love people.

It was quite an interesting one as where it had gone, the chassis member has a compound curve and a return into the engine bay.....quite a bit of metal shaping and stretching to get that to fit.

Then a further piece for the lower return.

I added a section around the sub frame mount area to, overkill and not overly needed but done anyway

Repaired the steering lock yesterday. It did not work, because the little spring inside was broken.

One hour work, including getting a spare from a doner car

Got the door card off the Jag at long last.

The problem isn't the cable of stiff lever, sadly, so new CDL on order from dealer :(

Picked up new door lock mechanism/latch from dealer today, parted with £106, and then fitted it this evening.

Took ages, due to lack of any decent information from forums, but now I know how to do it, reckon I could do another in under 90mins.  Still not as fast as doing an Omega one, which is normally doable in well under an hour.

Once I had door card back on, I realised I'd forgot to attach the cable at the internal handle end, but soon had the card off again to resolve that.

Brings back into perspective big cat ownership, if you don't attempt to DIY.

£106 motor, took you around 2 hours? So could be £200 labour easy at a Jag dealer.

So all in all could be 300 quid bill if you were not able  :(

Refitted the original CCR2006 and BOSE (amplifier, speakers and loom) to the Elite

Rediscovered how good BOSE sounds  :y and what a ball ache it is to pull most of the interior out of the car to fit it  >:(

The new rear brake pads arrived - so they're in  :y
Whilst I was under the car, a courier walked straight past me & started ringing the door bell.
He had a large box under his arm - containing the rear exhaust box I ordered via fleebay. (It's like the arrival of buses!!)
Must say: very pleased with the service & quality. It arrived from Germany very quickly & I really can't moan about the value at £33 all in  :y :y
