It will wipe it's face ;)

I have a buyer for it who's agreed to the asking price.

Gearbox serviced and new transfer case fitted to the ML. Not a cheap exercise but it now drives like it should without sounding like a Gatling gun every time you applied a hint of throttle. >:D

Changed a glow plug on hers.  Always apprehensive, as we all know glow plugs shear ;D.

Came out easy, so all done and dusted in 15-20m :y

The wife's car was asking for Adblue, so I gave it 5 litres. Then I suddenly realised that mine hasn't asked for any in 10 months and 12,000 miles. Methinks someone has fettled it before I got it  ;D

Oh what a terribly inconvenient thing for them to do.  ::) ;D

No problems with the MOT , so what does Adblue actually do?

It’s used to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions quite substantially. It is injected into the exhaust system, breaking down pollutants into harmless nitrogen and water.
It also gives you a Euro 6 rating so you can escape some of those nasty charges that the midget mayor loves so much, regardless of whether it’s been mapped out or not.   :)

Adds a stack of cost to the car which is why the naughty Germans cheated the system......until the got found out. Also why they couldn't actually properly fix existing cars as adding an AdBlue system is a massive job

Apparently changing the tune from 140kw to 165kw makes the car smoke at idle... Who knew >:D

ML now MOTd although not impressed.

Took the keys in and said categorically that all the items has been addressed...

Parking Brake Efficiency
Parking Brake Cables left and right
CV Boot in poor condition (it wasn't the clip just needed cinching up)
Excessive Smoke

Passed... Still showing advisories for Parking Brake Cables and Excessive smoke. :-X

All the bloke did was drive it into the bay and leave it idling for 10 minutes. When asked if he could actually clear all of the items his response was "Oh have you done them then? I can't redo it now I have printed it. We'll catch it next time..."

I mean FFS >:(

Having checked the rest of it telepathically you'd like to think he'd have stuck his head underneath and seen the new cables and distinct lack of smoke out of the exhaust  :-X

Still, a pass is a pass and at least I am able to clearly demonstrate that both advisories are BS. So it's not the end of the world.

I'd just tell potential buyers that the advisories have been sorted and leave it at that.  ;)

…………..
Still, a pass is a pass and at least I am able to clearly demonstrate that both advisories are BS. So it's not the end of the world.

I had similar when my BMW went in for its very first MOT. Hitting a pot hole had left a bulge in one of the front tyres, so I ordered a pair to balance it out, even though the car had less than 12K miles on the clock. They said they’d fit the tyres in the morning and MOT it in the afternoon, so imagine my annoyance when they failed it in the morning…….. for having a bulge in the tyre.
I complained to them and I complained to their head office, but head office told me that they always do the MOT before fitting new tyres in case it fails on something wheel related, then it saves them from removing the wheels twice when they do the repair. I told him that I’d never in a million years take my car to them for mechanical work so they shouldn’t assume they’d get the work.  >:(
So, lesson learnt, never have tyres fitted on the same day that your car is MOT’d. I’ve also vowed never to use Merit Tyres ever again, even though they are my nearest tyre and MOT station. Even before this, I wouldn’t have let them loose on a bicycle, let alone an actual car.  ::)
So, the car failed its very first MOT and then passed an hour later. What was the point in that?  ::)

Another fail on their record to offset a few postal MOTs and make their pass rate look plausible?
