Replaced wipers. Started removing front strut on Ralf. Second bolt down keeping knuckle to strut wasn't budging. I stupidly forgot to buy penetraring fluid :(

Next up I checked the brake fluid in my daily runner and I don't like the look of it. Nowt wrong... just looks old and needs replacing.

Now I know how to do it and I've done it before on Ralf. I use the 2 person method as per Tunnie's guide and I do it in sequence (for my car which is RP, FD, RD, FP). However I found this video and it suggests that you can do this on your own and as a result of having the end of your tubing submerged in fluid it won't draw air back in. What do you think...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5O_pbC8R2E&feature=plcp

Also slightly worrying that he suggests garages simply use a turkey baster to get the old fluid out and thats it ''oficially changed''. or is it worrying? Is it necesary to go through each bleed valve? Would like to hear your thoughts :)

Removed dead insects from the bottom of the rear glass and one in the high level brake light.

Does anyone else have insects in their car?

Drove 70 miles, alternator died, drove another 30 miles, stopped at motorway services for 4 hours, had fully charged slave battery fitted by AA, drove another 90 miles (until sparks ran out), waited another 3 hours then travelled 60 miles on the back of a transporter, slept a bit, put battery on charge, removed alternator & identified regulator, phoned around and found a regulator in stock locally.

Tomorrow I will collect & fit the regulator, lets hope it works.......

You might not believe this .. but I class that as a GOOD result .....  when my alternator failed 2 weeks ago the recovery company sourced a replacement alternator ... £170:00   :( They did cover the cost of changing it however - cheaper for them to do that than to recover me home it seems ...

Prepared the TD for a busy Summer towing the caravan, as our travels begin in a month or so. 8)

All-round check of brakes, steering, suspension and underside.
Apart from a general clean-up/lube of the rear disc/drum assembly, absolutely nowt needed doing. :y

Well pleased! ;)
