Drove 70 miles, alternator died, drove another 30 miles, stopped at motorway services for 4 hours, had fully charged slave battery fitted by AA, drove another 90 miles (until sparks ran out), waited another 3 hours then travelled 60 miles on the back of a transporter, slept a bit, put battery on charge, removed alternator & identified regulator, phoned around and found a regulator in stock locally.

Tomorrow I will collect & fit the regulator, lets hope it works.......
You might not believe this .. but I class that as a GOOD result .....  when my alternator failed 2 weeks ago the recovery company sourced a replacement alternator ... £170:00   :( They did cover the cost of changing it however - cheaper for them to do that than to recover me home it seems ...
Collected the regulator (£30) then went to Evans Halshaw to order a new tensioner pulley. While I was there I asked how much an alternator would have cost me on TC. "To you sir  :) £93 !". If I had known that I wouldn't have faffed around trying to refurb mine ::)
Getting a bit pissed off with the Trade Club website being locked more often than not due to someone using the wrong password  >:(

SOunds like they were quoting for the wrong alternator as you will have the 140A pricey one!

That is what I assumed until it was on the bench. The markings are a little indistinct but the biggest text on it says "120A" (& I didn't prompt the guy on the parts desk, I just gave him my registration)

Ripped my seats out again, closely followed by the cream carpets and cream plastic foot/door trim.

Replaced with black plastics and dark grey carpet, much better.

Just need to find replacement door cards now  ::)

Took delivery of a new 3.0 cat back system to be fitted tomorrow.
£96 inc - will let you know what the quality is like when it gets fitted.

Docs say no driving for at least 10 weeks though so the poor girl's gonna feel neglected for a bit after that.

Today I fitted a new ABS ECU thanks to Darth Loo-Knee having it on my doorstep within 2 days, Gave the car a full service and changed the positive battery clamp due to a loose crimped connector causing symptoms similar to those of an air leak, also discovered that my HBV is leaking so thats next on my list of things to do.

Got a couple of tyres for my wheels. Also spent 3 hours watching 2 exhaust guys trying to fit my eternal back box to the rest of my exhaust. rear pipes on back box was not at the right angle so there needed to heat and rebend them. So glad I did not take up chris gixer on his offer to fit it for me, poor lad would have been there for a week.
