$%*&^£"^£! .......  bent it.

Near side arm removed, placed in vice, tangs spread, heated until dull red, large pair of stilsons borrowed from a mate, said mate (17 stone) put his weight on it, and it moved... not the joint ... the adjusting bar bent !! Not a lot, but it bent.... put his weight on the other way.. it bent back !!

2 new control arms ordered from Skurrays for 08:30 tomorrow ... £83 each - before I ask for discount, which I usually get about 9% if they are not on TC.

I've taken off the other arm as well, ready for the morning.

Good news is the tyres arrived .. :)

So control arms tomorrow, WIM on Monday.

Win wome, lose some...

On a positive note, £83 frok Vx makes the £78 from Allgerman look expensive :-\

Dismantle and copperslip the new ones and you should never have a repeat performance :y

Apparently so .. no longer sold as individual parts, but I need all the bits anyway ... ... 90497197

seems a reasonable price for next morning delivery .. other options

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Vauxhall_Omega_3.0_1999/p/Car-Parts/Suspension-and-Steering/suspension/suspension-arm-and-suspension-joints/?622720015&1&e05579f29dd51d9dd37f76547508b88bc141e602&000320     £80 + postage

http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/suspension-arm-track-control-arm/trw-jtc1130_g273_a161JTC1130.html  .....   never heard of TRW  but  £60 + postage

so for genuine VX I don't think its too bad ..

Let us know the price when you've paid for it, in case of cock-up :)

Price on Invoice £83.00 + VAT (£99.60) each

Price paid .. (9% discount :) ) £75.53 + VAT  (£90.64)

Part number is 90497197 - CONTROL ARM - OUTER

Complete control arms, only things you don't get are the nut for the ball joint end and the nut & bolt for the bush end.  :)

Both now well greased and fitted .. I obviously didn't get the measurements spot on as the steering wheel is about 15 degrees offset and the car drifts left ...but its only got to do 90 miles like that to Chesham on Monday, hopefully won't do any lasting damage to the rear tyres.  :)
