Unblocked the scuttle drain. Brought mats and pollen filter in to dry. Carpets will take a lot longer methinks :(

Blocked up quick or neglecting it?

Possibly element of both, as did check it in the autumn, as the other one was getting a lot of leaves in it.  I don't normally check it during winter months, but maybe the mild autumn and early winter delayed the autumn leaf fall a bit.

She had said it had started to mist up over last few days, so guessing it was the rain after xmas that caused the problem.

It was pretty blocked.

Recalibrated the LPG gauge, following its replacement a few weeks ago. Despite being identical gauge, the settings were wildly different.

Picked up a spare wing and door to go on the spare Omega, for when I take off the wing and door from the spare Omega to put on Pissy... if you follow all that!

Went to replace a duff brake light bulb only to find that my local VX dealer had given me the wrong one! Anybody got the correct part number please? Thanks.

Popped some vinegar in the car, as you do  :y

(an experiment, I've put some distilled vinegar into the washer fluid, so give the pipes a clearout, hopefully remove some gunge from in there, as I live in a hard water area. Preventative maintenance) The filter was cleaned to like new only a matter of months ago, and is already showing signs of white slime build up again.  :)

Lagondadnet, pretty sure you require the dual filament bulb that doesn't have the offset pins, PFLs have offset pins, FL don't, I believe. (hence inserting the FL bulb in a PFL bulb holder chews the bulb holder, as I've found to my cost)

Yes they gave me single filament bulb when I need dual!

Well done Vauxhall. Ugh...

perfect time to experiment with some LED brake light bulbs? They do do dual 'filament' versions.

Finally reassembled the intake plumbing on the white one, slapped a new battery on it and fired it up for the first time in a month...

Really didn't want to go, but eventually chugged into life... Lifters banging like no tomorrow :D gradually quietened down as it warmed up, and no surprise as it's been stood for a month ::)

Due a service so will get that done in the next couple of weeks.

Incidentally charging at 14.3V at idle with everything switched on, so pleased with that :y

I think you will find that all dual filament bulbs with bayonet bases have offset (different height) pins to encourage you to install them the correct way round (eg 5 watt tail light and 21 watt brake light).

Single filament coloured bulbs have pins that are offset radially (12 OClock & 4 OClock IIRC) to discourage you from putting a plain bulb in where an amber one is needed (eg due to a clear indicator lens).

When I got my facelift it had the wrong bulb rammed into one of the holders and it was a nightmare to get out in one piece.......
