I mentioned a few weeks ago that my bonnet cable had snapped. Jim kindly found a video showing how to release the bonnet catch from underneath, so on a freezing cold day in February I jacked it up removed the undertrays only to find that on my 2.2 the air intake pipe is right underneath the bonnet catch and you can't get at it.  ::)  I went away to tropical climes and forgot about it!  :y

On my return I found a thread on a Ford forum that said the only way was to cut a hole in the grill, which I did a couple of weeks ago, only to be confronted with a plastic panel blocking any access.  ::)

Today I thought What the hell! and pulled the plastic panel away, and with some sensational gynaecology through the hole in the grill and the gap where I pulled the plastic panel away, I managed to undo the bolts holding the security plate and the bonnet catch and managed to release it!  Hurrah!  :y

I pulled out the old cable and slid the new cable down the existing sheath, connected it all up, bolted the catch mechanism and security plate back into place, and it works!!  :y  Bit of a fiddly piss arse of a job, bit a whole lot easier than fitting a new cable and sheath that you'd get from Ford.  :)

Next up, fit the new to me grill that I got from ebay and hopefully jobs a goodun!  :y

Collected Zeke after his MOT pass last week. As a tight northerner I wasn't going to pay a months tax for a weeks use.

Bloody hell I've missed him. Had a nice brisk run back. Even treated him to some lovely fresh super unleaded. You can tell it was payday yesterday.

Yes, I bought some of those Parkside hook and loop foam pads yesterday - just the job for my Milwaukee mini cordless polisher! They are excellent value - can't go wrong for £4.... :D
