You're right about one thing.. I bought a Myford metal lathe at the weekend  ;D

Really do need to build some nice wooden racking and a workbench in the garage, though!

Quite fancy a Colchester, Myford or Harrison myself!  :y

Dismantled Front Pass Suspension...

Found knackered top mount, notchy bearing race.

Attempted to remove without removing the shock....but must be missing a trick, or its not possible with mv6 suspension, as could get nowhere near enough clearance to remove the mount.

Remove stub axle with shock to preserve camber?

Unless spring compressors needed to pull the spring down?

I'm sure from memory there's another nut which sits on top of the top bush. If you undo it you will need spring compressors. Unless you want to play Zebedee. Which could turn out a bit messy

yes there is....compressors were used, but shape of shock + spring, even with as much compression as I could apply, the mount was not coming out.

Dropped the shock, jobs a goodun.
new parts due tomorrow.

Well mine need doing, I know the top barings are badly pitted after re greasing them when fitting new suspension. I had no replacements so had to refit them. Suprised to see this problem given the mileage, but then it had LA springs as well so maybe the suspension on the car when it came to me was not original from the factory.

Not only has the spring got to be compressed/ got out the way somehow, but the strut has to be compressed as well, or the shaft will still be up through the mount. Can't see there being room on the omega tbh. The mount in the wing is too enclosed I'd of thought.

Maybe master can show us at Newent. In fact I'll do one side, he can do the other. £5 says I win. ;)

Don't know why. It needed rearward bushes anyway. Although its never wise to doubt the master.
