Open the bonnet (so you can hear better) and when stationary stick full lock on and hold it against the lock stop, if the pump groans you've found your culprit..

Ditto for the heated rear screen and lights etc to load the alternator up

The 2.2 has been doing that for years, but it does not make same noise that the 3.2 does.

It's not that much lock in reality on the roundabouts it makes the noise either 2/3's of a rotation maybe  :-\

Will do that test this weekend though  :y

The 3.2 has Servotronic whereas the 2.2 doesn't, so the pump characteristics will be different :y

Replaced the broken headlamp adjuster in the new ( >:() OE headlamp, also fitted a working headlamp motor which was kindly provided by Joff (love the black Irmscher Elite Joff). Now all lights working as they should on the TD. :y

Went and sat in a shit load of traffic just to collect a set of wheels.... just coz the M62 got shut....

What should have been a 3/4hr trip turned into a 2 1/2 hr trip instead....

Anyhoo, collected the wheels from Hartshead Moor (thankyou Gregg), then went over to Stalybridge to collect a pair of Monroe shocks :) (thankyou Carl)

All in all, not a bad day, but stressful .....

Offered to change a condenser on a Mazda 3 - didn't realise the whole front of the car has to come off! Makes to Omega look easy!

Drove the 3.2 to work, trying to shred the Nexen N6000's on the back, as they are near end of life and are shite.
That they are. However, they are exceptionally good at maintaining a straight line
